App-Based Psychotherapy of Panic Disorder with Self-Guided Exposure in Virtual Reality—a Randomized, Controlled Trial.
Patients with panic disorder often suffer from temporary unavailability of care. The smartphone app Invirto (IVT) provides a digital treatment for panic disorder involving self-guided exposure in virtual reality. In this trial, we studied the efficacy of Invirto. ⋯ A digital treatment with virtual exposure can lessen anxiety, panic, and depressive symptoms and improve mental flexibility. In further studies, IVT should be compared with an active control group.

The Heidelberg Decision Aid for Patients with Lung Cancer (HELP)—Findings of a Randomized, Controlled Trial.
Advanced lung cancer typifies the challenges of participatory decision-making in oncology. With a limited prognosis for survival, the increasingly numerous and complex treatment options must continually be weighed against issues of fragility, quality of life, and the end of life. ⋯ Even though the intervention was perceived as helpful preparation for decision-making, it did not bring about any improvement in the high level of decisional conflict. With the continual development of new treatments and the associated increase in prognostic uncertainty, there is an important role for individualized patient information and the training of physicians in how to deal with uncertainty.

Continuous or Interrupted Suture for Hepaticojejunostomy in Pancreaticoduodenectomy (the HEKTIK Trial): Findings of a Randomized, Controlled, Single-Center Superiority Trial.
Over 6000 pancreaticoduodenectomies are per - formed each year in Germany, and hepaticojejunostomy is a crucial step of the procedure. An anastomotic leak of hepaticojejunostomy can cause major postoperative complications. The aim of this trial was to compare the morbidity and efficiency of continuous versus interrupted suturing for hepaticojejunostomy in pancreaticoduo - denectomy. ⋯ These data imply that continuous and interrupted suturing techniques yield equally good clinical outcomes in hepaticojejunostomies of hepatic ducts with diameter 5 mm or more. Continuous suturing is, however, both faster and cheaper.

The Care of Children and Adolescents With Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Cluster-Randomized Trial on Improving the Guideline Conformity of Treatment by the Use of the CEDATA-GPGE Patient Registry.
For children and adolescents with chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), treatment that is not in adequate conformity with the guidelines can adversely affect both the course of disease and the patients' development. The targeted use of digital patient registries may improve real-life adherence to the recommendations of evidence-based guidelines. ⋯ Registry-based feedback can help bring treatment and its documentation into better con for - mity with the relevant guidelines and thereby reduce or prevent care deficits in children and adolescents with IBD.

Evaluation of a Digital Decision Aid for Knee Replacement Surgery: A Stepped-Wedge, Cluster-Randomized Trial.
We studied whether an individualized digital decision aid can improve decision-making quality for or against knee arthroplasty. ⋯ A digital decision aid significantly improved the quality of decision-making for or against knee replacement surgery. The widespread use of this instrument may have an even larger effect, as this trial was conducted mainly in hospitals with high case numbers.
