Association of QRS-T angle and Late Gadolinium Enhancement in patients with a Clinical Suspicion of Myocarditis.
Objective: To investigate the association of a wide QRS-T angle on the surface ECG and late gadolinium enhancement on contrast-enhanced cardiovascular magnetic (CMR) imaging in patients with clinically suspected myocarditis. Background: Diagnosis and risk stratification in patients with suspected myocarditis is particularly challenging due to a great spectrum of clinical presentations. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) visualizes myocardial necrosis and fibrosis in patients with biopsy-proven myocarditis. ⋯ Patients with LGE had wider QRS-T angles as compared to the patient group without LGE (53.95-47.5 vs. 26.2-21.2; p<0.001). The sensivity, specificity, negative predictive value and positive predictive value for a QRS-T angle above 90 degrees for LGE positive myocarditis were 16.5%, 100%, 24.7%, and 100%, respectively. Conclusion: A wide QRS-T angle of 90 degrees or more is linked to myocardial fibrosis or necrosis (late gadolinium enhancement) in patients with suspected myocarditis.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: An Effective Auxiliary Treatment Method for Large Jaw Cysts.
Background: To evaluate hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) on infection rates and repair rates during the treatment of large jaw cysts. Methods: A prospective randomized, non-blinded, controlled clinical trial included 90 patients with jaw cysts, randomly divided into three groups. Patients were treated with enucleations and bone substitute was used in the experimental and control groups. ⋯ Results: The infection rate was 3.4% in the experimental group, 14.3% in the blank group, and 32.1% in the control group (P<0.05). The repair rate in the experimental group was significantly higher than in the control and blank groups at 1, 3 and 6 months after surgery (P<0.05). Conclusion: The results showed that HBOT reduced the postoperative infection rate following the enucleation of large jaw cysts with bone substitute filling, and it also improved the bone repair rate.

Background: Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) represents a serious complication following total knee arthroplasty. In the setting of chronic infections, the two-staged approach has traditionally been the preferred treatment method. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal period of rest between the first and second stage. ⋯ Conclusions: We observed the best outcome regarding infection control in patients who had undergone second-stage surgery within 12 weeks after first-stage surgery. Nearly 90% of these patients stayed free from infection until the final follow-up. An increased number of performed spacer-exchanges and a bad local extremity grade also had a negative impact on the outcome.

Association of Hepatic Steatosis Index and Fatty Liver Index with Carotid Atherosclerosis in Type 2 Diabetes.
Background/aim: Previous studies have suggested that the hepatic steatosis index (HSI) and fatty liver index (FLI) can be used as a predictor of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The aim of our study was to determine whether non-invasive indices of hepatic steatosis (HSI and FLI) are associated with carotid atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in the T2DM patients (n=768). ⋯ Overall, increasing values of HSI and FLI were associated with CIMT (P < 0.05) significantly across different categories of age and hypertension. Conclusion: Current data suggest HSI and FLI are independently correlated with carotid atherosclerosis in T2DM. They may be a simple and useful marker for assessing the progression of diabetic macrovascular complications.

We explored has_circ_0071106 as a diagnostic marker for type 2 diabetes (T2DM) in south China, and predicted the functional mechanism of the target circRNA. A total of 107 T2DM patients and 107 healthy reference persons were included as the research objects. In the first stage, the circRNA microarray was used to detect the peripheral blood of 4 T2DM and 4 control groups to screen the differential expression profile of circRNA. ⋯ Lastly,we found that has_circ_0071106 increase the risk of T2DM (OR=2.819 (95% CI: 1.415~5.616)). Thearea under the ROCcurve has_circ_0071106 was 0.690, the sensitivity was 62.1%, and the specificity was 69.9%. The function prediction results showed that has_circ_0071106 was involved in biological processes such as protein binding, gene transcription, and may be involved in the pathway of hsa-miR-29a-5p regulating diabetes, has_circ_0071106 may be used as a diagnostic marker for T2DM.
