Association between hidradenitis suppurativa and atopic diseases: a multi-center, propensity-score-matched cohort study.
Background: Cross-sectional evidence has suggested a high prevalence of atopic diseases in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). However, there is a lack of evidence based on longitudinal studies. This study aimed to assess the risk of different atopic diseases, including asthma, atopic dermatitis, and allergic rhinitis, in patients with HS. ⋯ The association between HS, atopic dermatitis, and asthma was consistent across different age and sex subgroups. Conclusion: Atopic diseases including atopic dermatitis, asthma and allergic rhinitis are associated with HS. Further investigation is needed to assess the necessity of early screening for atopic diseases in patients with HS.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the role of plasma cytokine detection in endometrial cancer screening and tumor progression assessment in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding. Methods: In this multicenter retrospective cohort study of 287 patients with abnormal uterine bleeding, comprehensive clinical information and laboratory assessments, including cytokines, routine blood tests, and tumor markers, were performed. Associations between the clinical indicators and endometrial carcinogenesis/progression were evaluated. ⋯ Similarly, combining IL-6, IL-8, and Monocyte counts enhanced the accuracy of assessing endometrial cancer risk with deep myometrial invasion. The area under curve of the model is 0.753. Conclusions: Cytokines such as IL-4, IL-8, and IL-6 can serve as markers for monitoring endometrial cancer and its progression in women with abnormal uterine bleeding.

Prediction of outcomes for rescue cerclage in cervical insufficiency: A multicenter retrospective study.
Purpose: Cervical insufficiency is a significant risk factor for preterm birth and miscarriage during the second trimester; cervical cerclage is a treatment option. This study seeks to evaluate the predictive roles of various clinical factors and to develop predictive models for immediate and long-term outcomes after rescue cerclage. Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective study on patients who underwent rescue cerclage at 14 to 26 weeks of gestation. ⋯ The successful maintenance of pregnancy until at least 28 weeks was associated with earlier gestational age at diagnosis, negative AmniSure test results, longer lengths of the functional cervix, and smaller cervical dilatation at the time of cerclage. Binary logistic regression models for immediate failure and long-term success exhibited excellent and good predictive abilities, respectively (AUROC = 0.912, 95% CI: 0.834-0.989; and AUROC = 0.872, 95% CI: 0.788-0.956). Conclusion: The developed logistic regression models offer a valuable tool for the prognostic assessment of patients undergoing rescue cerclage, enabling informed clinical decision-making.

Hidradenitis suppurativa as a potential risk factor of periodontitis: a multi-center, propensity-score-matched cohort study.
Background: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease associated with systemic symptoms. Periodontitis, a prevalent dental disease, shares immune-mediated inflammatory characteristics with HS. This cohort study aims to evaluate the association between HS and periodontitis. ⋯ Sensitivity analyses supported these findings under various matching models and washout periods. While comparing with patients with psoriasis, the association between HS and periodontitis remained significant (HR: 1.73, 95% CI: 1.23, 2.44). Conclusion: The observed increased risk suggests the need for heightened awareness and potential interdisciplinary care for individuals with HS to address periodontal health.

Determinants for a low dose of alteplase and its relationship to a lower intracerebral bleeding risk in acute ischemic stroke.
Background: Factors for the utilization of intravenous thrombolysis with a low-dose of alteplase (0.6mg/kg) and whether the low-dose of alteplase could reduce the risk of intracerebral bleeding in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) remains uncertain. Aims: We aimed to investigate determinants for the utilization of intravenous thrombolysis with a low-dose of alteplase. We further assessed the association between the low-dose of alteplase and the intracerebral bleeding risk in AIS patients. ⋯ There was no significant difference in the rate of any ICH between two groups (14 [15.9%] vs 18 [20.5%], p = 0.434). Conclusions: Patients with increasing age, a higher baseline systolic blood pressure, and previous ischemic stroke were at a higher odd of receiving a low-dose of alteplase. The low-dose was associated with a lower risk of developing symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage.
