Background: In recent years, LncRNA acts as a member of competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), playing an important role in drug resistance of lung cancer. The aim of this study was to identify potential biomarkers about cisplatin resistant lung cancer cells using a comprehensive ceRNA network. Methods: GSE6410 (GPL-201) analyzed gene expression changes about cisplatin resistance in A549 NSCLC cells. ⋯ Starbase predicted lncRNA XIST mediated miRNAs. Finally, lncRNA XIST may be a useful biomarker regulating cisplatin resistance in lung cancer cells and further, we explored the BAX may effect tumor-infiltrating immune cells. Conclusions: LncRNA XIST competitively bound to miRNA 520 in the regulation of cisplatin resistance by BAX, participating apoptosis in the p53 signaling pathway.

Background: The world's first Diabetes Medications (Insulin) was marketed in October 1923. Some studies suggested the association of diabetes medications with Bullous Pemphigoid (BP), especially the Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. The study aims to detect an association between diabetes medications (focusing on DPP-4 inhibitors) and bullous pemphigoid based on FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). ⋯ Conclusions: This study detected a strong signal between BP and DDP-4 inhibitors, alpha-glucosidase inhibitors, meglitinides, non-sulfonylureas, and sulfonylureas in FAERS. The signal was significantly higher with alogliptin than with the other DPP-4 inhibitors. The study doesn't suggest the association between the incretin mimetics, insulin, SGLT-2 inhibitors, thiazolidinediones and BP in FAERS.

Background: Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a retinal disease that causes blindness in premature infants. This study aimed to reveal the changes in amino acids and derivatives in the plasma of ROP patients compared with premature infants without ROP. Methods: Metabolomics targeting amino acids and their derivatives was conducted to assess their plasma levels in ROP patients (n=58) and premature infants without ROP (n=25), and KEGG pathway analysis was used to identify the involved pathways. ⋯ The involved pathways included biosynthesis of amino acids, arginine and proline metabolism, and arginine biosynthesis. Conclusion: The plasma levels of citrulline, creatinine, arginine, and aminoadipic acid were significantly changed in ROP patients. These metabolites could be considered potential biomarkers of ROP, and their related metabolic pathways might be involved in ROP pathogenesis.

Fat-to-muscle Ratio: A New Indicator for Coronary Artery Disease in Healthy Adults.
Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is an important issue in public health. Previous studies have shown that the ratio of fat to muscle mass is a significant predictor of metabolic disease, and it is known to be associated with atherosclerosis. In this study, we evaluated the association between the fat-to-muscle ratio (FMR) and CAD in healthy adults. ⋯ The association was maintained even after adjusting for body mass index and waist circumference (odds ratio, 1.019; 95% confidence interval, 1.004 -1.034; P = 0.012). Conclusion: In this study, a high FMR was significantly associated with CAC. A large-scale prospective study on the association with FMR and cardiovascular diseases is necessary to confirm this relationship.

QRS-T angle in patients with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy - A comparison with Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Objective: We sought to investigate the possible association of a wide QRS-T angle on the surface EKG and myocardial fibrosis on contrast-enhanced cardiovascular magnetic (CMR) imaging in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Background: Risk stratification in HCM patients is challenging. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) visualizes myocardial fibrosis with unique spatial resolution and is a strong and independent prognosticator in these patients. ⋯ HCM patients with LGE (fibrosis) had wider QRS-T angles as compared to the patient group without LGE (100±54 vs. 46±31; <0.001). A QRS-T angle of 90 degrees or more was a strong predictor (OR 32.84, CI 4.08-264.47; p <0.001) of HCM with LGE. Conclusion: There is a strong association of a wide QRS-T angle and myocardial fibrosis in patients with HCM.
