Background: Ischemic stroke is a common cerebrovascular accident with a high risk of neurological deficits. Stem cell therapy has progressively attracted the interest of scientists and clinicians due to the benefits of promoting neural regeneration and regulating the microenvironment surrounding the lesion after ischemic stroke. Our study aimed to evaluate the development trends and research hotspots in the field of stem cells and ischemic stroke. ⋯ The topics related to miRNA, extracellular vesicles, exosomes, mesenchymal stem cells, neuroinflammation, and autophagy are current research hotspots. Conclusion: Our bibliometric study provides a novel perspective on the research trends in the field of stem cells and ischemic stroke. The outcome of this study may benefit scientists to identify research hotspots and development directions, thereby advancing the application of stem cell-based therapy for ischemic stroke.

Background: Cleavage factor Im25 (CFIm25) regulates cell function by affecting mRNA editing processes and plays diverse roles in various diseases. Studies have found that peripheral blood monocytes are valuable in diagnosing and prognosing coronary atherosclerosis. However, no studies have examined the predictive value of CFIm25 expression in peripheral blood monocytes for coronary atherosclerosis. ⋯ Univariate and multivariate binary logistic regression analyses showed that CFIm25 expression in peripheral blood monocytes was a protective factor for severe lesions, ≥ 50% stenosis, and three-vessel lesions. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve of CFIm25 expression for predicting lesions, severe lesions, ≥50% stenosis, and three-vessel lesions were 0.743, 0.735, 0.791, and 0.736, respectively. Conclusions: CFIm25 expression in peripheral blood monocytes correlates negatively with the degree of coronary atherosclerosis and helps predict the severity and number of coronary artery lesions.

Background: Intensive care unit (ICU) patients are at high risk of infection due to multiple invasive procedures, malnutrition, or immunosuppression. The rapid increase in infections with multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO) during the COVID-19 pandemic caused a dilemma, as the rules of the sanitary regime in ICU rooms were strictly adhered to in the prevailing epidemiological situation. The combat to reduce the number of infections and pathogen transmission became a priority for ICU staff. ⋯ Active chlorine-containing substances were widely used to clean and disinfect surfaces. Conclusions: Infections with MDR strains pose a challenge for health care. Identification of bacterial reservoirs and comprehensive nursing care significantly reduce the number of nosocomial infections.

Objective: Evaluate the prognostic value of the prognostic nutritional index (PNI) in patients with endometrial cancer (EC). Method: Laboratory and clinicopathological data from 370 patients who were diagnosed with EC between January 2010 and December 2021 were reviewed. The PNI was analyzed for correlations with recurrence and survival. ⋯ Conclusion: Low PNI was significantly associated with worse clinical outcomes in patients with EC. Our findings demonstrate that the PNI may be clinically reliable and useful as a prognostic marker for patients with EC. Further large-scale prospective studies are needed to confirm our findings.

Background: Complications of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) had been widely discussed. However, whether TKA influence risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in osteoarthritis patients remained uncertain. We intend to evaluate the risk of RA in osteoarthritis patients underwent TKA. ⋯ Subgroup analysis demonstrated a significant increase in the risk of RA following TKA in the female subgroup (HR=1.42; 95% CI, 1.24-1.63), the subgroup aged 18-64 years (HR=1.48; 95% CI, 1.11-1.97), and the subgroup aged greater than 65 years old (HR=1.38; 95% CI, 1.21-1.58) based on 5-year follow-up. Conclusion: Clinicians should be concerned about uncharted association between TKA and RA reported our current study. Additional prospective studies and in-depth mechanistic inquiries were warranted to determine the causation.
