Objectives: Body composition (BC) analysis is a routine part of comprehensive public health care. Assessment of BC is more important source of information than BMI. Adherence to the standard measurement conditions is essential for the correct results. ⋯ The difference between IST and CON was statistically significant for all POST measurement times only in BM and VF (both P<0.001). The VF results are also underlined by the detected impedance changes in the trunk area at 20 kHz (B20) and 100 kHz (B100) at 60 min and 90 min (both P<0.001). Conclusions: Our study suggests that segmental impedances and BC measurement in healthy young normal-weight adults requires strict adherence to fluid restriction at least 90 min before the measurement to avoid false impedance values and overestimation of BM and VF.

TJP1, an adaptor protein of the adhesive barrier, has been found to exhibit distinct oncogenic or tumor suppressor functions in a cell-type dependent manner. However, the role of TJP1 in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) remains to be explored. The results showed a marked down-regulation of TJP1 in KIRC tissues compared to normal tissues. ⋯ Furthermore, the overall survival analysis of KIRC patients based on the expression of autophagy-related genes revealed that most of these genes were associated with a good prognosis. TJP1 overexpression significantly suppressed cell proliferation and tumor growth in 786-O cells, whereas the addition of an autophagy inhibitor diminished its inhibitory function. Taken together, these results suggest that TJP1 serves as a favorable prognostic marker and induces autophagy to suppress cell proliferation and tumor growth in KIRC.

Breast milk is widely recognized as the primary source of nourishment for newborns, making it an unparalleled and indispensable provider of essential nutrients, microbiological components, immunological factors, and energy content. To investigate this further, a cohort comprising 254 breastfeeding women participated in interviews, and milk samples were aseptically collected for subsequent analysis involving bromatological, microbiological, and clinical analysis. ⋯ These detrimental agents have been found to adversely affect the growth of microorganisms within breast milk. On the contrary, the outcomes of this study indicate that the utilization of toxic substances does not exert a noteworthy impact on the nutritional quality of breast milk.

This study aims to investigate and compare the stress distribution, displacement, and bone loading of monoblock and dual custom-made subperiosteal implant systems in atrophic maxilla using finite element analysis (FEA). A total of 11 patients with insufficient bone tissue for conventional implant treatment were included in the study. Customized subperiosteal implant designs were generated using the 3D average models obtained from patients' computed tomography (CT) scans. ⋯ In conclusion, custom subperiosteal implants are a viable treatment option for patients with insufficient bone tissue for conventional implants. Dual implant systems were found to have lower stress and displacement values compared to monoblock structures, indicating a potential advantage in clinical use. However, mono implants may have benefits in cases of immediate teeth loading due to their ability to absorb and distribute occlusal forces better.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused over six million deaths worldwide since its emergence in Wuhan China, factors associated with COVID-19 mortality, such as comorbidities, age, and observed symptomatology still remain a major subject of study. In the present work, a total of 16,345 SARS-CoV-2 positive cases from Durango Mexico diagnosed from May 2020 to December 2021 were analyzed to establish an association of COVID-19 mortality with clinical and demographic variables in a case-control study. Selected variables include patient age, smoking status, sex, presence of comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes and obesity, as well as patient symptomatology such as fever, dyspnea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. ⋯ On the other hand, the symptom associated with the highest risk factor was dyspnea with an odds ratio of 18.369 (IC 95%, 14.42-23.39). Our data suggests an association between hypertension and old age with COVID-19 mortality. Other findings include the prevalence of dyspnea, polypnea and cyanosis as a major predictor for COVID-19 mortality, as well as lower mortality risks among health workers.
