The current study aimed to assess the prevalence of bullying victimization (BV) and its association with psychopathology and suicidality in a nationwide general population. ⋯ Bullying exposure is associated with recent psychopathology and lifetime suicidality. Multifactorial interactive processes contribute to long-term harmful health implications in adulthood. Nevertheless, further research on the relevant mechanisms associated with bullying and potential interventions that can decrease morbidity must be conducted.

Limited data exist on asthma medication patterns in Taiwan. The objectives of the SABINA III cross-sectional study in Taiwan were thus, to describe patient demographics and clinical features and estimate short-acting β2-agonist (SABA) and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) prescriptions per patient. ⋯ Despite treatment by specialists and fully reimbursed healthcare, findings indicate room for improvement in asthma control and SABA prescription practices in Taiwan, emphasizing the need to adhere to latest evidence-based guidelines.

Lung transplantation is a therapeutic option for patients with end-stage lung disease. However, the increase in organ demand has surpassed the number of donors, with many patients unable to outlive the long waiting period. This study aimed to assess mortality and its risk factors in patients on the waiting list for lung transplantation in a single medical centre. ⋯ This is the first Taiwanese study to describe the mortality factors in patients waiting for lung transplantation. The main factors influencing the survival of these patients were lower BMI, NYHA class IV, and diseases which cause end-stage lung diseases (infection and pulmonary fibrosis).

The primary aim of this essay was to explore the best fitting model in remifentanil-propofol combined administrations during esophageal instrumentation (EI) from five distinct response surface models. The secondary aim was to combine the models to give appropriate effect-site drug concentrations (Ces) range with maximal comfort and safety. ⋯ Using proper response surface model to fit different drug effects will describe the interactions between anesthetic drugs better. Combining response surface models to select the more reliable effect-site drug concentrations range can be used to guide clinical drug administration with greater safety and provide an improvement of anesthesia precision.

Pancreatic cancer is difficult to diagnose early since tumor markers have low sensitivity and specificity. We simultaneously measured serum carbohydrate antigen (CA) 19-9, pancreatic elastase-1, lipase, and amylase, and evaluated the accuracy of a single marker or a combination of two, three, or four markers in the diagnosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). ⋯ CA19-9 as a single marker is the most accurate in the clinical diagnosis of PDAC. Combination of lipase, amylase, or pancreatic elastase-1 results does not significantly increase the accuracy of PDAC diagnosis.
