Purpose: Anemia affects the life quality of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients, but no report from Asian about anemia screening and its impact previously. We aimed to explore the prevalence and impact of anemia among the IBD patients in Taiwan. ⋯ The anemia screening rate was acceptable and increased over time in Taiwan. Since anemia is associated with worse outcomes, earlier survey and treatment of anemia in IBD patients is recommended.

Distinct hepatitis relapse has been observed after discontinuing entecavir (ETV) or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) therapy in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients. End-of-therapy (EOT) serum cytokines were compared and used for outcome prediction. ⋯ Distinct cytokine profiles were observed after stopping ETV or TDF. Higher EOT IL-7, IL-18, and IFN-gamma could be probable predictors for VR and CR in patients discontinuing NA therapies.

Although the neural mechanisms of the theory of mind (ToM) in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through fMRI using the social animation task have been investigated, little is known in adults with ASD. Therefore, the present study aimed to explore the neural substrates of ToM in adults with ASD. Moreover, we aimed to elucidate the relationship between brain activation and behavior of social interaction in adults with ASD. ⋯ ASD adults might spend a lot of effort on identification processing, thereby influencing social communication skills. Also, the neural deficits of ToM in ASD adults might be associated with their social interaction difficulties.

Diabetes, dyslipidemia, obesity, and cardiac dysfunction are the hallmarks of the cardiometabolic syndrome. Pathogens include hypercoagulability, inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and oxidative stress. Increased white fat, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease are caused by obesity. ⋯ However, anxiety and depression can cause cardiovascular disease. It has been shown that PUFAs found in fish oil can improve glucose and lipid metabolism, cardiac membrane composition, and inflammation in the body. By repairing the dysregulation of metabolic syndrome, fish oil is a potential therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases.
