Acute pain is one of the main complaints of patients after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), which causes delayed mobility, increased morphine consumption, and subsequently increased costs. Therefore, the present study was performed to evaluate the preventive effect of preoperative celecoxib and gabapentin on reducing patient pain as a primary outcome after TKA surgery. ⋯ According to the results of the present study, the preventive administration of gabapentin and celecoxib showed a significant and similar effectiveness on reducing patient pain after TKA surgery and on improving the KSS and quality of life scores.

This study aimed to investigate reference Doppler velocimetry indices (DVIs) of the fetal ductus venosus (DV) during 11-13 + 6 gestational weeks. ⋯ Reference values for DVPI, DVRI, and DV S/A ratios were established as 0.80-1.39, 0.62-0.88, and 2.57-6.70, respectively. Future meta-analyses and multicenter studies are required to incorporate DV DVIs into an updated universal version of the practice.

Povidone Iodine (PI) is the most frequent antiseptic used as a topical disinfectant in surgery. It has been reported high transcutaneous iodine absorption due to topical PI usage, but there is a lack of data in periods of excess iodine depletion. ⋯ If the thyroidectomy was prepared with PI, RAI is better to be performed 6-8 weeks after surgery rather than the standard prescription of 4 weeks.

This study aimed to compare the rate of scheduled surgery and no-show rates between online-scheduled appointments and traditionally scheduled appointments. ⋯ Orthopedic practices should utilize online-scheduling systems as there was a higher progression to surgery of traditionally scheduled appointments compared to online. Depending on the subspecialty, no-show rates differed. Furthermore, online-scheduling allows for more patient autonomy and less burden on office staff.

This study was aimed at evaluating the effect of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) and multistrain synbiotic on indirect hyperbilirubinemia among neonates treated with phototherapy. ⋯ Findings suggest that UDCA and synbiotic administration alongside phototherapy are more effective in reducing bilirubin levels as compared to phototherapy alone.
