Data about causes of chronic cough are lacking in our part of world. The aim of our study was to look for spectrum of causes in our setup and to determine a correlation between causes of cough and baseline factors of age, gender, and BMI and compare it to other populations. ⋯ Variability of epidemiology of cough variant asthma, allergic rhinitis and ACE-I induced cough is comparable to worldwide data while differences exist with epidemiology of interstitial lung disease. Further research is needed in the field to delineate the local trends in this regard and compare to other population groups.

Genetic variation analysis of rare autosomal recessive Niemann-Pick disease (NPD) Pakistani patients. ⋯ This is the first report of genetic demographic assessment of Niemann-Pick disease in Pakistan. The mapped mutations would be helpful to build a disease variants algorithm of Pakistani population. This will be used for determining disease clinical magnitude along with provision of genetic screening services in affected families.

Serum Vitamin-D plays pivotal role in inflammatory and infectious diseases; among them liver infections are more distinct. This study was aimed to determine Vitamin-D status in HCV-infected patients and healthy controls in Faisalabad, Pakistan. ⋯ Suboptimal levels of Vitamin-D (deficiency or insufficiency) are prevalent in patients having hepatitis C infection as compared to healthy controls. Deficiency of Vitamin-D was directly associated with severity of disease.

To investigate the failure loads of dentin bonded all-ceramic crowns when luted with Bioactive, resin and glass ionomer cements (GIC) in an in-vitro setting. ⋯ Dentin boned crowns with resin cementation showed higher failure loads than Bioactive and GIC luted crowns. Crowns luted with Bioactive cement showed acceptable failure loads for use as restoration on anterior teeth.
