To analyze the outcome of repair of aortic valve disease associated with various types of ventricular septal defect. ⋯ Aortic regurgitation associated with VSD is a congenital lesion with continuously active aortic valve disease resulting in significant morbidity and mortality. Early diagnosis, effective treatment and meticulous follow up decelerate and in most cases arrest the disease process.

To determine the outcome of traumatic tympanic membrane perforation in a teaching hospital at Peshawar, Pakistan. ⋯ It is concluded that spontaneous healing of traumatic membrane perforation occurs in more than 90% cases provided the ear is kept dry and not accompanied by unfavorable conditions.

At the end of 2019 a novel coronavirus was identified in Wuhan, China. The disease caused by the severe acute respiratory distress syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was designated COVID-19 (corona virus disease 2019) by the World Health Organization in early 2020. Up to 80% of patients with COVID-19 experience mild symptoms with severe or critical disease occurring in the remaining 20%. ⋯ The current estimated case fatality rate from COVID-19 is approximately 1%. Epidemiological studies have shown that advanced age, male gender, previous chronic lung disease, cardiovascular and kidney disease, obesity and diabetes are risk factors for the severity of disease course. In the current focused review, we present an overview of the acute cardiovascular complications of COVID-19, their detection and impact upon prognosis.

To analyze the management of severe necrotizing pancreatitis in a specialized center of a lower middle-income country, Pakistan using multiple outcome measures. ⋯ Survival outcomes with acute severe necrotizing pancreatitis are improving in a dedicated hepato-biliary unit internationally in lieu with a multidisciplinary team approach. Percutaneous and EUS guided drainage of pancreatic collections have turned out to be an important procedure to manage infected pancreatic necrosis that helps to avoid a morbid procedure in the form of necrosectomy.
