To investigate the clinical value of EGFR mutation testing in peripheral blood of patients with non-small cell lung cancer. ⋯ EGFR mutation in peripheral blood and tumor tissues is highly consistent in NSCLC patients. The EGFR mutation rate is higher in adenocarcinoma and non-smoking patients, and the prognosis is better in patients with EGFR mutations.

To explore the correlation between the risk of ischemic stroke and related risk factors in a health examination population. ⋯ The incidence of ischemic stroke risk factors varies among different age groups in the health examination population, and is related to poor lifestyle and underlying diseases.

To explore the association between the levels of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), aquaporin-1 (AQP1), pepsinogen I (PGI), and gastrin-17 (G17) and pathological features of laryngeal cancer (LC). ⋯ Levels of COX-2, AQP1, PGI, and G17 showed significant association with specific pathological features of LC. Serum levels of COX-2, AQP1, PGI, and G17 have certain predictive value for LC, and the combined predictive value of these four indicators is higher than that of a single indicator.

To determine the association of serum Vitamin-D levels and placental laminin expression in pre-eclamptic and normotensive women. ⋯ Our results show a strongly positive association between serum Vitamin-D levels, LN expression and severity of histopathological changes between normotensive and pre-eclamptic women.

Although differentiated thyroid cancers have a good prognosis overall, their incidence is on the rise with extremely limited data available in our region. The objective was to describe the outcomes of differentiated thyroid carcinoma in a tertiary care hospital. ⋯ This study highlights the low cure rate while describing the high rate of disease persistence and recurrence. This can be due to delays related to the diagnosis and scarcity of proper treatment. Recognition of this emergent disease is vital so that curative methods prescribed at proper time can diminish the morbidity and mortality linked with this treatable cancer.
