Association Between Persistence with Oral Atypical Antipsychotic Medications and Hospital and Emergency Department Utilization in Medicaid Patients with Schizophrenia.
To examine 1-year persistence with oral atypical antipsychotics (OAAPs) for Medicaid patients with schizophrenia and assess the association between OAAP persistence and hospital and emergency department (ED) resource utilization. ⋯ Non-persistence with OAAP medication is common among patients with schizophrenia and associated with negative outcomes including increased utilization of hospital and ED resources. Patient-centered interventions that improve antipsychotic persistence should be implemented to facilitate optimal outcomes in this population.

Acute Coronary Syndrome: Treatment Strategies and Outcomes in Patients Admitted to a Tertiary Care Hospital in Palestine.
Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is the leading cause of death worldwide despite advances in treatment and prevention measures. This study aimed to explore ACS treatment strategies (ischemia-guided vs early invasive) and risk factors among patients diagnosed with ACS in a tertiary care hospital in Palestine and to evaluate related outcomes regarding future events and standard clinical guidelines. ⋯ ACS management in Palestine continues to evolve to overcome barriers, decrease patient mortality, and decrease hospital stay. UA and NSTEMI were the most common ACS diagnoses at admission, and the ischemic strategy was the most common modality. The findings of this study call for an increased awareness of CVD risk factors, resource availability, and adherence to clinical guidelines to improve patient outcomes and community health.

Resourcefulness Among Initial Ischemic Stroke Patients: A Longitudinal Study of 12 Months.
To explore distinct longitudinal trajectories of resourcefulness among initial ischemic stroke patients from diagnosis to 12 months, and to identify whether sociodemographic factors, disease-related factors, self-efficacy, family function, and social support can predict patterns in the trajectories of resourcefulness. ⋯ This study obtained three patterns of trajectories and identified their predictive factors in initial ischemic stroke. The findings will assist health care professionals in identifying subgroups of patients and when they may be at risk of low resourcefulness and provide timely targeted intervention to promote resourcefulness.

The Burden of Suboptimal Insulin Dosing in People with Diabetes in Spain: Barriers and Solutions from the Physician Perspective.
This study aimed to determine physicians' perceptions of the extent of suboptimal insulin dosing and the barriers and solutions to optimal dosing in people with diabetes (PwD) treated with insulin. ⋯ According to physicians' perspectives, suboptimal insulin dosing remains common among PwD. This survey highlights the need for integrated and automated insulin dosing support to manage the complexity of insulin treatment, improve communications between PwD and physicians, and ultimately improve outcomes for PwD.

Patients' and Relatives' Preferences for Outpatient and Day Care Services Within End-of-Life Care in Germany - A Discrete Choice Experiment.
In Germany, patients with incurable chronic diseases living at home increasingly have the option of using outpatient and day care hospice and specialized palliative care services. The present study examined and compared patients' and their relatives' preferences for end-of-life outpatient and day care services. ⋯ The results suggest a higher demand for care in the patient's home than for out-of-home care. Patients' and relatives' high preference for special medical care and the relief of family caregiver burden should be considered in the design of day care services.
