One of the most significant problems facing maternal and children health worldwide is preterm birth (PTB). Although strategies to increase the survival of premature infants have significantly improved in the past few decades, they have yet to be successful. Nine years ago, the use of progesterone in pregnancy was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for PTB prevention. ⋯ The guidelines address multiple current controversial areas regarding the prevention of PTB to aid physicians with their clinical decision-making practice, including the use in multifetal gestation, different formulations, safety in pregnancy, dose and route of administration. To estimate the prevalence of hypocalcemia following total thyroidectomy (TT) at a tertiary center. ⋯ There was a high prevalence of hypocalcemia on the second day after surgery. Presence of hypocalcemia association with the PTH level. Meticulous surgical technique and preservation of parathyroid vascularity are important in preventing postoperative hypocalcemia.

To evaluate the factors related to breast cancer (BC) recurrence as well as survival in women ≤40 years old. ⋯ We found a high risk of BC recurrence among patients at our institution. Higher cancer stage, nonuse adjuvant chemotherapy, and low follow-up rate were significant predictive factors for recurrence.

Observational Study
Renal histopathology spectrum in children with kidney diseases in Saudi Arabia, 1998-2017.
To identify the trends in the diagnostic frequency of glomerular disease subtypes by renal biopsy in children in Saudi Arabia over the last 20 years. ⋯ We found a considerable shift in the frequency of many glomerular disease subtypes in 1998-2017, which make clinical predication of the underlying etiology challenging for clinician. Renal biopsy still remains a critical diagnostic procedure for managing a considerable proportion of renal diseases.

To correlate the clinical severity of laryngomalacia (LM) with endoscopic findings, swallowing evaluations and polysomnography in a cohort of patients. Method: We conducted a retrospective analysis between 2017-2018 on a cohort of patients diagnosed with upper airway obstruction (UAO), stridor, noisy breathing or laryngomalacia. This study took place at the Pediatric Pulmonology Department, Riley Children's Hospital, Indianapolis, United States of America. ⋯ The severity of the clinical manifestations of LM did not correlate with the different endoscopic types in our study. The presence of cyanosis was associated with type III LM. Rapid eye movement AHI and EtCO2 in polysomnogram were remained significantly associated with clinical severity.
