Predicting prognosis of heart failure using common malnutrition assessment tools: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
COUNT score, PNI score, and GNRI scores are associated with cardiovascular events. This review identifies the most accurate malnutrition assessment tools based on these scores in predicting mortality and readmission outcomes in HF patients. ⋯ CONUT and GNRI are the superior prognostic indicator than PNI in prediction of mortality associated with risk of malnutrition.

Association between C-reactive protein levels and development of post-stroke depression: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Different prospective cohort studies have focused on the C-reactive protein (ie, a pentameric protein) biomarker as a predictor of post-stroke depression. In this review and meta-analysis, we will attempt to synthesize the evidence for the association between C-reactive protein and the development of post-stroke depression. ⋯ Our findings provide an association of C-reactive protein with the development of post-stroke depression, and present higher levels than patients with stroke without depression. Additionally, our findings support the role of C-reactive protein levels as markers for predicting depression in patients with stroke.

The impact of chronic kidney disease and dialysis therapy on outcomes of elderly patients with hip fractures: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Hip fractures are a commonly occurring comorbidity in patients with chronic kidney disease. To evaluate the comparative rates of post-operative complications, revision surgery, and mortality after hip fracture surgery in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis. ⋯ We report higher risks of post-operative complications, revision surgery, and mortality in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis as compared to chronic kidney disease patients not undergoing hemodialysis.
