Based on our previous in vitro study with multilamellar liposomal bupivacaine (MLB) versus bupivacaine alone in artificial cerebrospinal fluid, we aimed to investigate in vivo antinociceptive effect of intrathecal MLB by determining tail flick latency (TFL) time after thermal stimulation in rats. ⋯ Intrathecal administration of MLB and HYDEL bupivacaine in rats resulted in longer duration of antinociceptive activity with shorter motor block duration.

Clostridium difficile is a frequent cause of nosocomial infections and has become a major public health concern in developed nations. In the present study, the prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of toxigenic C. difficile strains isolated in Iran were investigated. ⋯ The results evidently support the hypothesis of a probable role of toxigenic strains of C. difficile in developing gastrointestinal complaints in patients with diarrhea

This study aimed to evaluate the risk factors of patients colonized with carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE). ⋯ These results are in agreement with the current literature. The findings of this study could be useful for improvement of infection control strategies related to CRE

The iliac crest tangent (ICT) has recently emerged as a reliable landmark to correctly number the lumbosacral transitional vertebrae (LSTV). We retrospectively evaluated the reproducibility and accuracy of the ICT as a landmark in subjects without disc degeneration. ⋯ ICT does not seem to be a reliable landmark for correct numbering of LSTV in patients with no intervertebral disc degeneration.
