Does treatment with Sodium-Glucose Co-transporter-2 Inhibitors have an effect on sleep quality, quality of life, and anxiety levels in people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus?
To evaluate the impact of treatment with sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) Inhibitors on quality of life (QoL), sleep quality (SQ), and anxiety levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). ⋯ The QoL was improved in people with diabetes who were taking SGLT2 inhibitors. This may be explained by weight loss observed in participants.

Malnutrition is common in patients with nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), especially in the end stages of the disease where heart failure symptoms predominate. Malnutrition has been associated with atherosclerosis in patients with chronic kidney disease, but it is unknown whether a similar relationship exists between malnutrition and coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD). In the present study, we aimed to analyse whether indices of malnutrition were associated with coronary flow reserve (CFR) in patients with DCM. ⋯ Our findings indicate that not malnutrition per se but a combination of inflammation activation and malnutrition is predictive of CMD in patients with DCM.

Silent cerebral infarct (SCI) is an ischemic lesion seen before clinical signs of brain infarct and ischemic changes in brain tissue. This study aimed to detect SCI with noninvasive methods and to determine related risk factors in patients with sickle cell anemia (SCA). ⋯ SCI is not uncommon among SCA patients in Turkey. The presence of homozygote HbSS/Sβ0 genotype, high MCV, and HbS are risk factors for SCI.

High-dose melphalan and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) is the standard treatment strategy for multiple myeloma (MM) patients who are eligible for it. The recommended dose of CD34+ hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPCs) for adequate engraftment is above 2 × 106/kg. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the dose of CD34+HPCs and survival in MM patients who underwent AHSCT at a tertiary care center. ⋯ The increased amount of CD34+ autologous hematopoietic stem cell dose after high dose melphalan chemotherapy in MM patients shortened the platelet and neutrophil engraftment time and increased OS. Early platelet engraftment and administration of a CD34+ HPC count that is ≥5 × 106/kg can be considered as predictors of better survival in patients.

Pneumonia is the most serious clinical presentation of COVID-19. This study aimed to determine the demographic, clinical, and laboratory findings that can properly predict COVID-19 pneumonia. ⋯ Shortness of breath, male sex, and hypertension were significant for predicting COVID-19 pneumonia on admission. Patients with these factors should be evaluated more carefully for diagnostic procedures, such as thorax CT.
