An ultrasound-guided liver mass biopsy is a method frequently used in determining the diagnosis and treatment plan. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential new predictors of bleedingbased on ultrasonographic features in liver mass biopsies, which are frequently applied in routine clinical practice. ⋯ In our study, it was shown for the first time in the literature that the ultrasonographic appearance of the liver (heterogeneous and coarse granular parenchyma) may also be one of the parameters that can help to predict the risk of bleeding.

In the differential diagnosis of hirsutism, early follicular basal 17-OH-progesterone levels sometimes overlap with the diagnosis of late onset congenital adrenal hyperplasia (LOCAH) and other causes of hyperandrogenism. This study aims to investigate the role of some common tests and clinical findings in differential diagnosis in such cases. ⋯ While DHEAS level was lower in LOCAH than in PCOS, it was not different from that in IH. While the severity of hirsutism was higher in LOCAH than in IH, it was not different from that in PCOS. Menstrual irregularity was similar between PCOS and LOCAH. According to these results, although the auxiliary tests and clinical findings for the diagnosis of LOCAH contribute to the clinical interpretation, they are not superior to the 17-OH-progesterone level for diagnosis.

Recent studies have shown that inflammation plays a role in morphine analgesia and tolerance development. Anakinra is a competitive inhibitor of IL-1 receptors and an antiinflammatory protein regulating IL-1β’s biological activity by avoiding signal transduction. In this study, we aimed to examine the effects of anakinra on morphine analgesia and tolerance. ⋯ Anakinra has antinociceptive properties, and it increases the analgesic effect of morphine and also prevents tolerance development. These effects probably occur by the modulation of oxidative stress and ER-stress pathways.

Recent evidence suggests that Vitamin D deficiency may be associated with varying degrees of peripheral blood cytopenia(s). However, the effect of Vitamin D on hematopoiesis is largely unknown. According to predefined inclusion criteria, here we analyzed the correlation between serum Vitamin D level and hematological parameters. ⋯ Our study reports a correlation between major hematological parameters and Vitamin D levels in a particularly large patient population who lacks a significant confounder like chronic illnesses or conditions which may change hematological parameters.
