Anterior glenohumeral instability is an important cause of shoulder disability. The aim of the present study was to investigate arm exercise capacity in patients with anterior glenohumeral instability before and after arthroscopic Bankart repair and to compare the results with those of healthy controls. ⋯ Shoulder function, exercise capacity, and quality of life were lower in the patient group and improved after arthroscopic Bankart repair. Clinicians should use the exercise capacity assessment for the evaluation of the recovery of shoulder function after providing stabilization.

The aim of this study is to determine the risk of cancer in patients with primary Sjögren syndrome (pSS) from a single center in Turkey. ⋯ The risk of hematological and solid cancers was higher in the patients with pSS when compared to general population. In our pSS cohort, the risk for ovarian cancer was found to be increased, which has not been previously reported in the literature.

Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME), which is a fairly common form of generalized epilepsy syndrome has attracted attention by providing focal findings in some electrophysiological, neuropsychological, and neuroimaging studies. These findings are considered to be based on frontal lobe dysfunction. Furthermore, it is known that Cluster B personality disorders that are related to impulsive behavior are frequently seen in JME patients. ⋯ Our findings support that JME patients have frontal lobe dysfunction. Although several studies are available in the literature, no significant results related to personality traits were detected.

Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT) is one of the most prevalent autoimmune diseases. The intestine microbiota is strongly associated with autoimmune diseases. Zonulin, a modulator of tight junctions that controls the selective permeability of the intestine can induce an elevation in gut permeability. We aimed to investigate the association of plasma zonulin levels with HT. ⋯ Zonulin is a possible biomarker candidate that may link intestinal permeability with the etiology of autoimmune diseases.

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a supervised group exercise therapy based on the biopsychosocial model introduced simultaneously with antitumor necrosis factor (TNF) therapy in anti-TNF-naive patients with active ankylosing spondylitis (AS). ⋯ The supervised group exercise therapy based on the biopsychosocial model introduced simultaneously with anti-TNF therapy is more effective than only anti-TNF therapy in anti-TNF-naive patients with active AS.
