Although sonoelastography is applied in assessment of many organs, studies for evaluation of muscles are very few in number and are mostly limited to adults. With this prospective study, we aimed to evaluate the value of sonoelastography in assessment of influenza related benign acute myositis in children. ⋯ Sonoelastography proves to be a valuable tool for diagnosis of BACM. It is one of the available ultrasound techniques in a radiology department and may particularly evolve to become a useful routine ancillary technique for investigation and follow-up in these cases.

Giant hepatic hemangioma treatment with transcatheter arterial embolisation and transcatheter arterial chemoembolisation; Comparative results.
Treatment of hepatic hemangiomas is a controversial topic, and traditional treatment is surgical excision. Transcatheter arterial embolisation (TAE) and transcatheter arterial chemoembolisation (TACE) have been reported as minimally invasive treatment methods. To the best of our knowledge, there are no studies comparing use of TACE and TAE for hepatic hemangioma treatment. The aim of the study is to compare symptom resolution, size reducing effects, and complications of TACE and TAE for the treatment of giant hepatic hemangiomas. ⋯ Both methods are effective in symptomatic relief in properly selected patients. However, TACE causes greater volume reduction with less pain and, therefore, is the better endovascular treatment option.

This study was conducted to compare the effects of conventional physiotherapy and two different ‘proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation’ (PNF) techniques on knee muscle strength, knee muscular endurance, and proprioception in knee osteoarthritis (KOA). ⋯ All methods were effective in patients with early-stage knee osteoarthritis; however, the most effective results were obtained by PNF using CIC technique.

The management of nodules with indeterminate cytology [atypia of undetermined significance (AUS), follicular lesion of undetermined significance (FLUS), follicular neoplasm (FN), suspicious for a follicular neoplasm (SFN), and suspicious for malignancy (SM)] results is controversial. To assess the role of the elastography technique in the diagnosis of malignancy in the subtypes of indeterminate thyroid nodules. ⋯ Thyroid elastography may reduce unnecessary surgery for both patients with AUS/FLUS and selected SFN cytology. Elastography appears to be helpful in follicular variants and other types of papillary thyroid cancer, however, not in follicular thyroid cancer.

Calcitonin level in fine-needle aspirate washout fluid (Ct-FNA) was extensively studied for thyroid nodules and lymph nodes (LN). However, the data was scarce for neck recurrences/metastases of medullary thyroid cancer (MTC). Thus, the diagnostic accuracy of Ct-FNA and cytology in the detection of neck LN metastases of recurrent MTC cases were assessed. ⋯ As Ct-FNA has greater diagnostic accuracy in our study, it would be complementary to cytology results to localize metastatic LNs in recurrent MTC. Furthermore, for the first time, we demonstrated that the Ct-FNA/sCt ratio was a better predictor of metastatic LNs in recurrent MTC than a particular cut-off for Ct-FNA alone.
