There are no extensive studies on the QL in children who completed acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment and currently living without any disease in Turkey. Our study aimed to analyze both the QL and the effects of physical, neurocognitive capacities on QL in childhood ALL survivors aged 7–12 years at the time of recruitment. ⋯ The months after the treatment (off-treatment time) have not affected total and subunit QL scores. As motor skills difficulties will lead to low academic achievement, early recognition direct the parents for immediate intervention. lead to low academic achievement, early recognition could direct the parents for immediate intervention. Planning psychosocial support programs for physical activity and age-appropriate development of patients from the initiation of treatment will increase the QL in childhood ALL with a survival rate of 80% or more.

The presented study aimed to evaluate the utility of magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) in the pediatric population with nutcracker syndrome. ⋯ MRA imaging can be applied as an alternative diagnostic method for Doppler ultrasonography and multidetector CT examinations by radiologists with different experience levels in pediatric patients with nutcracker syndrome.

Activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID) enables antibody diversity in B lymphocytes. It may also have an effect on MDS pathogenesis by causing somatic mutations and by inducing epigenetic changes in myeloid cells. This study aimed to compare AID expression of MDS patients with healthy controls, of MDS patients in different risk groups, and of MDS patients according to their treatment. ⋯ AID expression is increased in the peripheral blood of MDS patients compared to healthy controls. However, AID expression is not significantly different in “lower risk” and “higher risk” subgroups and in patients treated with hypomethylating agents. Increased AID expression may be an early step in MDS pathogenesis.

The present study aimed to assess erythrocyte morphology in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus patients using scanning electron microscopy. ⋯ Our findings indicate that high glucose levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients lead to significant alterations in erythrocyte morphology, including decreased erythrocyte deformability and the formation of echinocytes and spherocytes due to eryptosis. The possibility of decreased erythrocyte deformability due to excessive eryptosis may disturb microcirculation in newly diagnosed, treatment-naïve type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who do not have any complications.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) affected the whole world in a short time. One of the most influential public health initiatives modern medicine has to offer, the vaccine has become even more important as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to worsen worldwide. Many vaccine trials were launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, and these vaccines were widely used around the world, offering realistic hope for ending the pandemic. ⋯ If an allergy is suspected, a correct examination followed by algorithms is important for true diagnosis, treatment, and decision regarding revaccination. Patients who experience an allergic reaction with the first dose of covid 19 vaccine should be directed to the allergy-immunologist, and the evaluation of at-risk patients should be individualized. Finally, we should point out that the benefits of current COVID-19 vaccines go far beyond the side effects, and that the vaccine is the most important way to recover from the pandemic.
