This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of sicca symptoms and secondary Sjögren’s syndrome (SjS) in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). Also this study aimed to evaluate the expression of α-smooth muscle actin (α–SMA) in minor salivary gland (MSG) specimens, a possible marker of fibrosis responsible for myofibroblastic transformation. ⋯ This study suggested sicca symptoms were found to be very common among patients with SSc. Also secondary SjS was detected in nearly one-third of patients with SSc; especially in limited subtype. Anti SS-A positivity and older age were detected as predictors for SjS. Histopathologic evaluations showed significant glandular fibrosis but rare α-SMA staining in patients with SSc.

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is an underdiagnosed entity with a broad impact on the quality of life. Although the pathogenesis is largely unknown, autoimmune footprints of the inflammation in PsA have increasingly been recognized. ⋯ Entheseal and synovial cellular infiltrate with oligoclonal CD8+ T cells and occasional germinal centers, loss of regulatory T cell function, and specific autoantibodies such as anti-PsA peptide, anti-LL-37, and anti-ADAMTSL5 are the immunopathological findings suggestive of autoimmunity. These were supported by clinical observations of autoimmune multimorbidity and treatment response to calcineurin/mTOR and co-stimulation inhibition.

Headaches are one of the most common neurological symptoms. They adversely affect daily life, reduces the workforce, and have high health costs. Managing this symptom in primary care will free up secondary and tertiary health services to better treat patients who need follow-up by specialists. In the present study, we aim to show the rate at which this problem can be solved in primary care for patients who applied tertiary care services with a headache for the first time. ⋯ Patients with headache applied tertiary care instead of primary care for different reasons. Both neurologists and family physicians stated that most patients evaluated in tertiary care could be managed in primary care.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score on the prognosis in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). ⋯ High CONUT score reduces OS and PFS in DLBCL. CONUT score is an independent, strong prognostic index in patients with DLBCL.

This study analyzed peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets to determine their role in the etiopathogenesis of IGM. ⋯ Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis is defined as a localized form of granulomatous disorders. However, the observed changes in T cells, NK, and NKT cells suggest that there is systemic immune dysregulation in patients with IGM.
