Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a type of adult stem cell consisting of a heterogeneous subset of stromal stem cells that can be isolated from adult tissues. Folic acid is another important contributor to tissue regeneration and repair, which affects the synthesis of some building block molecules used for wound healing. In this study, we examine the effect of folic acid and MSCderived soluble factors in the wound healing model. ⋯ The results show that both folic acid and MDFs increased the wound healing rate in HUVECs when they were used separately. The strongest benefits were seen in treatment using folic acid and MDFs together.

Is there any difference between endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial carcinoma in terms of expression of TRPM2 and TRPM7 ion channels?
This study compared TRPM2 and TRPM7 ion channel gene expression and immunohistochemical staining in endometrial hyperplasia and endometrium adenocarcinoma. ⋯ Reduction in TRPM7 ion channel activity may be a progression marker for endometrial hyperplasia regardless of the atypical criteria.

Prevalence of atopy and allergic rhinitis in patients with adult non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis.
Non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (non-CF BR) is common in developing countries.Limited data are available regarding the impact of atopy, and no data are available regarding allergic rhinitis in patients with adult bronchiectasis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of atopy and allergic rhinitis in the clinical conditions of patients with BR. ⋯ We concluded that atopy was detected in more than one-third of adult non-CF BR patients. This study demonstrated that non-CF BR patients might have AR; it might be important to be aware of nasal symptoms in non-CF BR patients.

Our research focused on the identification of easily available and sensitive markers for early prediction of acute kidney allograft rejection (AR). We aimed to investigate the association between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and AR in kidney transplant patients. ⋯ Our data showed that higher NLR values (>2.5) are associated with AR in kidney transplant patients, leading to the conclusion that NLR might be an easily available and useful marker option for detection of AR in this patient population.

Mild to moderate proteinuria is a heralding sign for acute kidney injury and mortality for intensive care unit patients.
Lack of early predictors of acute kidney injury is currently delaying timely diagnosis. This study was done to evaluate the relationship between mild to moderate proteinuria and incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) and 28-day mortality in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. ⋯ Proteinuria before ICU admission is a risk factor for development of AKI within seven days of ICU stay and also is a risk factor for 28-day mortality, even in patients with GFR > 60 mL/min.
