By applying humanin (HN) before myocardial infarction (MI), its protection in myocardial injury and the possible roles of its cellular mechanism in the Notch pathway were investigated. ⋯ HN administration before MI has a cardioprotective effect on rats via the Notch signaling pathway.

Surfactant is a surface-active substance that, in addition to its detergent effect, also has effects that reduce inflammation and fibrosis. Because of these effects, it was aimed herein to investigate the effect of intraperitoneal surfactant application on preventing postoperative peritoneal adhesion formation in a uterine horn adhesion model. ⋯ Intraperitoneal surfactant administration at a dose of 70 mg/kg was found to be effective in preventing intraabdominal adhesion formation in a rat uterine horn model.

We aimed to discuss term infants who are given surfactant due to respiratory disorder according to the underlying etiology, the dose of surfactant administration, and the need for repeated surfactant administration. ⋯ Despite the difference on administration time and repeat dose interval due to etiology, surfactant treatment is improving the respiratory distress of term infants.

Leukoaraiosis produces white matter lesions (WML) similar to multiple sclerosis (MS) on brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and the distinction between these two conditions is difficult radiologically. This study aimed to investigate the role of the central vein sign (CVS) in susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) sequence in distinguishing MS lesions from leukoaraiosis lesions in Turkish population. ⋯ The presence of CVS in the SWI sequence can be used as an auxiliary finding for the diagnosis of MS in the differentiation of MS and leukoaraiosis lesions.

The effect of topically administered lavender aromatherapy on the pain of insulin injection in diabetic patients: a double-blind randomized controlled clinical trial.
Needle phobia occurs in more than half of diabetic patients due to the pain caused by frequent insulin injections. Therefore, this study evaluated the effect of topically administered lavender aromatherapy on the pain of insulin injections in diabetic patients. ⋯ : The study showed that patients who were administered topical lavender oil felt less pain after insulin injection than those in the placebo and control groups. Therefore, topically applied lavender aromatherapy can be easily used for pain control in insulindependent diabetic patients (clinical trial number NCT04767737).
