Randomized Controlled Trial
[Effect of landiolol on bispectral index scores in patients undergoing lower abdominal surgery].
The aim of this study was to examine the effects of landiolol on bispectral index scores (BIS) during surgery. ⋯ This study suggests that landiolol has no effects on BIS in patients undergoing lower abdominal surgery during sevoflurane-remifentanil anesthesia.

We evaluated the effect of repeated transversus abdominis plane (TAP) blocks on postoperative analgesia over the first 48 postoperative hours in the patients undergoing lower abdominal gynecological surgery. ⋯ These findings suggest that bilateral repeated TAP blocks via a placed catheter provide good analgesia without any complications in patients undergoing ovarian cystectomy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
[Comparison of ultrasound-guided and blindly placed radial artery catheterization].
The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether ultrasound (US)-guided radial artery catheterization decreases the number of failed attempts. ⋯ Because the artery and catheter are actually visualized by US, it seems, that US-guided radial artery catheterization is a safe and educational technique.

Multicenter Study
[Effect of landiolol hydrochloride for intraoperative tachycardia--multicenter questionnaire study].
The purpose of this study was to evaluate effects of landiolol hydrochloride, which is an ultra-short-acting beta-1 selective blocker, for intraoperative tachycardia and to establish practical methods of administration of the drug. ⋯ Information obtained by the questionnaire suggests that bolus injection and/or low-dose continuous administration of landiolol, which are not described in the drug information documents, are effective and safe for treatment of tachycardia during anesthesia.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
[Prevention of spinal hypotension associated with cesarean section by aortocaval compression--left 15 degree table tilt vs. uterine displacement by hand].
Women undergoing elective cesarean delivery were randomly assigned to receive a spinal anesthesia in either the semi-lateral (group SL) position or the supine position with uterine displacement (group UD). After spinal injection, group SL patients were turned to a 15 degrees left lateral supine position, and group UD patients had uterine displacement by hand. ⋯ Mean ephedrine requirement was significantly less in the SL group (P < 0.05). Apgar scores did not differ, but umbilical artery pH values were significantly higher in patients of the group SL (P < 0.01).
