Randomized Controlled Trial Meta Analysis Comparative Study
[Airtraq for difficult airways: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials].
Increased evidence indicates that the Airtraq is useful for difficult tracheal intubations. The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of the Airtraq in difficult airways, comparing with that of Macintosh laryngoscopy. ⋯ There is considerable evidence that Airtraq has an advantage over Macintosh laryngoscope in difficult airways.

Randomized Controlled Trial Meta Analysis Comparative Study
[Channeled videolaryngoscope: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials].
The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of the channeled videolaryngoscopes in routine tracheal intubation. ⋯ Compared to the Macintosh laryngoscopy, channeled videolaryngoscopy offers advantages for novice laryngoscopists, while these benefits are not seen with experts' hands in normal airways. Even with skillful hands, channeled videolaryngoscopy improves the successful first-attempt intubation in difficult intubations.

[Continuous infusion of low-dose remifentanil for palliation of pain with epidural catheterization].
To prospectively determine the safety and effectiveness of continuous infusion of low-dose remifentanil for the reduction of pain in patients for epidural catheterization. ⋯ Continuous infusion of low-dose remifentanil is a safe and effective method for palliation of pain in epidural catheterization.

Randomized Controlled Trial
[The preventive effect of flurbiprofen on preventing mesenteric traction syndrome].
Mesenteric traction syndrome (MTS) is associated with facial flushing, hypotension and tachycardia. The ways to treat MTS are fluid replacement, administration of vasopressors and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as flurbiprofen. In order to stabilize the hemodynamics during operation, preventing MTS is more reasonable. Thus, we investigated the preventive effect of flurbiprofen on MTS, the only injectable formulation which can be used in Japan. ⋯ Our results indicate that pretreatment with flurbiprofen might prevent MTS.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
[A comparison of the single-use i-gel with the reusable laryngeal mask airway Proseal in anesthetized adult patients in Japanese population].
The i-gel is a newly developed, cuffless and single-use supraglottic airway device with gastric drain conduit. This study was designed to compare the performance of the i-gel with the reusable LMA Proseal when used during anesthesia in spontaneously breathing adult patients. ⋯ Our result indicated that i-gel can be inserted faster without inserting practitioners' finger into patient oral cavity. Leak pressure was sufficient for clinical use in spontaneous breathing anesthetized adult patients.
