Pediatric anesthesia adverse events: the Thai Anesthesia Incidents Study (THAI Study) database of 25,098 cases.
The Thai Anesthesia Incidents Study (THAI Study) is the first national study of anesthesia outcomes during anesthesia practice in Thailand. The authors extracted data of 25,098 pediatric cases from THAI Study. ⋯ Infants are prone to higher adverse events compared with older children and adults. Main adverse events were respiratory-related and they occurred mostly during anesthesia.

The effect of the public or private status of health care facility in acute coronary syndrome: data from Thai ACS Registry.
Few data showed the differences between public and private hospitals in management practices and outcomes of patients with acute coronary syndrome. Furthermore, no data is available in Thailand. ⋯ In Thailand, management of patients with acute coronary syndrome is influenced by the public or private status of the hospitals. Patients were more likely to undergo coronary angiography and coronary revascularization procedures in private hospitals. The length of hospital stays and in-hospital mortality was higher in public hospitals.

The Thai Anesthesia Incidents Study (THAI Study) of ambulatory anesthesia: Part I: Method, geographic distribution and population.
There is a continuing trend to have more elective surgical operations performed on an outpatient basis. ⋯ From the results of the present study, the authors have concluded that the rate of expansion of ambulatory anesthesia in Thailand is relatively slow, and varies according to the type of hospital and its geographic region. This indicates further studies should be formally conducted to determine factors affecting the practice of ambulatory surgery in Thailand. A large proportion of patients receive initial pre-anesthetic evaluation in the operating room on the day of surgery. This indicates that a system of pre-anesthetic evaluation should be set up for outpatients such as a pre-anesthetic care clinic should be set up for outpatients.

To evaluate the correlations between anesthetic risk factors and perioperative cardiovascular complications as well as perioperative death within 72 hours. ⋯ Predictors of perioperative cardiovascular complications in intracranial surgical patients were ASA physical status 3-5 and absence of certified board anesthesiologists. Risk factors of perioperative death were ASA physical status 3-5, emergency condition, and absence or no monitoring of capnometer.

Predictors of intra-operative recall of awareness: Thai Anesthesia Incidents Study (THAI Study): a case-control study.
The authors determined predictors of intra-operative recall of awareness in the Thai Anesthesia Incidents Study (THAI Study). ⋯ In the THAI Study, predictors of intra-operative recall of awareness were cesarean delivery and cardiac surgery. Use of nitrous oxide attenuates the risk of awareness.
