Ultrasound-guided single-injection femoral nerve block provides effective analgesia after total knee arthroplasty up to 48 hours.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of ultrasound (US) guided single-injection femoral nerve block (FNB) spinal anesthesia on pain control, morphine consumption, adverse effects, and patient satisfaction during the postoperative 48-hour period in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ This study suggests that a US-guided single-injection femoral nerve block following TKA improves patient satisfaction and reduces consumption of morphine during the first 48 hours.

Perioperative dexketoprofen or lornoxicam administration for pain management after major orthopedic surgery: a randomized, controlled study.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are recommended for multimodal postoperative pain management. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the postoperative pain relief and opioid-sparing effects of dexketoprofen and lornoxicam after major orthopedic surgery. ⋯ Intravenous application of 50 mg dexketoprofen twice a day and 8 mg lornoxicam twice a day improved analgesia and decreased morphine consumption following major orthopedic surgery. When the two active drugs were compared, it was found that dexketoprofen was superior to lornoxicam in terms of analgesic efficacy and opioid consumption.

The effects of sufentanil added to low-dose hyperbaric bupivacaine in unilateral spinal anaesthesia for outpatients undergoing knee arthroscopy.
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of sufentanil added to low-dose hyperbaric bupivacaine in unilateral spinal anaesthesia for outpatients undergoing knee arthroscopy. ⋯ All patients were successfully given unilateral spinal anaesthesia with sufentanil added to low-dose hyperbaric bupivacaine for an outpatient knee arthroscopy, without affecting the time of discharge. However, for one-day interventions such as arthroscopy, it was concluded that administration of only low-dose hyperbaric bupivacaine was sufficient.

Comparison of the postoperative analgesic efficacy of an ultrasound-guided fascia iliaca compartment block versus 3 in 1 block in hip prosthesis surgery.
In this study, we aimed to compare the postoperative analgesic efficiency of an ultrasound-guided fascia iliaca compartment block and a 3 in 1 block in patients who underwent hip prosthesis surgery as a result of hip fracture. ⋯ We believe that the safe and efficient application of the ultrasound-guided 3 in 1 block and the FICB is necessary in multimodal analgesic treatment in order to enable postoperative analgesia in hip prosthesis surgery.

Preemptive analgesic efficacy of dexketoprofen trometamol on impacted third molar surgery.
The aim of this study was to compare the pre-emptive analgesic efficacy of intravenous (IV) dexketoprofen trometamol (DT) and placebo, following impacted mandibular third molar surgery. ⋯ Preemptive use of IV DT is more effective than placebo for using as preemptive analgesia for acute postoperative pain control in patients underwent removal of an impacted mandibular third molar surgery.
