ReviewSugammadex and anaphylaxis: An analysis of 33 published cases.
In this study, the published sugammadex-induced anaphylaxis reports were reviewed to determine similarities in their presentation during anesthesia. PubMed was searched for sugammadex-induced anaphylaxis without time limitation. Reports were evaluated if they were in English and met the criteria of anaphylaxis determined by the World Allergy Organization. ⋯ Sugammadex-induced anaphylaxis onset time was less than 5 min in 92.3% of all the reported cases. Rapid diagnosis and early recognition of signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis are essential for a favorable prognosis. Treatment needs to be started as soon as possible to ensure the best outcome for the patient.

ReviewChronic hip pain in adults: Current knowledge and future prospective.
Chronic hip pain is distressing to the patient as it not only impairs the daily activities of life but also affects the quality of life. Chronic hip pain is difficult to diagnose as patients often present with associated chronic lumbar spine and/or knee joint pain. Moreover, nonorthopaedic causes may also present as chronic hip pain. ⋯ The use of fluoroscopic-guided radiofrequency in periarticular branches of hip joint has reported to provide pain relief of up to 36 months. However, the current evidence for use of platelet-rich plasma in chronic hip osteoarthritis pain is inconclusive. Further research is required in the management of chronic hip pain regarding comparison of fluoroscopic- and ultrasound-guided procedures, role of platelet-rich plasma, and radiofrequency procedures with long-term follow-up of patients.

ReviewAnesthesia for oral surgeries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2(SARS-Cov2) virus replicates in the nasal cavity, nasopharynx, and the oropharynx. During oral surgery, the risk of viral transmission is high during instrumentation in these areas, while performing airway management procedures, the oral surgery itself, and related procedures. During the corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, patients with an oral pathology usually present for emergency procedures. ⋯ Maintaining patient safety, while protecting the healthcare workers from getting infected during oral surgery is paramount. Meticulous advance planning and team preparation are essential. In this review, we discuss the challenges and recommendations for safe anesthesia practice for oral surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic, with special emphasis on risk mitigation.

ReviewOpioid free onco-anesthesia: Is it time to convict opioids? A systematic review of literature.
The epidemic of opioid crisis started getting recognised as a public health emergency in view of increasing opioid-related deaths occurring due to undetected respiratory depression. Prescribing opioids at discharge has become an independent risk factor for chronic opioid use, following which, prescription practices have undergone a radical change. A call to action has been voiced recently to end the opioid epidemic although with the pain practitioners still struggling to make opioids readily available. ⋯ At present it would be too premature to conclude upon opioid-induced immunosuppression from the existing evidence. Till evidence is established, there are no recommendations to change current clinical practice. At the same time, consideration for multimodal opioid sparing strategies should be initiated in each patient undergoing surgery.

ReviewBeyond the borders: Lessons from various industries adopted in anesthesiology.
Since the first public demonstration of anaesthesia in Boston, USA which happened around 172 years back, the field of anesthesiology has rapidly progressed, with many developments that have improved the quality and safety of anesthesia care. This has enabled tremendous advances in the surgical disciplines and increasing the life expectancy and quality of life of humans. This is a result of learning and constantly evolving. ⋯ This article emphasises on learnings from other industries in the recent decades, focusing on aviation, high-reliability organizations, car manufacturing, telecommunication, car racing, entertainment, and retail. Learning and implanting the best practices from these industries can bring about a paradigm shift in health care industry. It has a potential to improve efficiency and make anaesthesia safer than ever before in the history of human kind.
