Comparative Study[Comparative evaluation of endoscopic hemostatic methods in gastroduodenal ulcer hemorrhage].
An experience with using various methods of endoscopic hemostasis for bleeding gastroduodenal ulcers is presented. The efficiency of different methods of arresting the bleedings depending on localization of the ulcer, place of the bleeding vessel and activity of the hemorrhage is discusses. The frequency of hemorrhages was shown to depend of the phase of the ulcer disease. A conclusion is made about high efficiency of using the combined endoscopic hemostasis as compared with using each of the methods of arresting the hemorrhage separately.

[Gunshot and blast injuries to the abdomen. The problems of mechanogenesis and of diagnostic and treatment procedures based on the experience of delivering surgical care to the wounded during the war in Afghanistan (1980-1989)].
The work is bases on an analysis of treatment of 2687 wounded in the abdomen. There are two main groups of factors in mechanogenesis of military injuries of the abdomen: ballistic parameters of gunshot shells and additional injuring factors of mine-explosive ammunition. ⋯ The following questions are discussed: the adequacy of the access, reinfusion of the blood accumulated in the abdominal cavity, surgical treatment for gunshot peritonitis, errors in treatment of wounded with abdominal injuries, application of new methods of treatment. Surgical features of traumatic disease and its treatment in wounded with gunshot abdominal injuries are described.

[The reasons for leaving foreign bodies in the abdominal cavity and the prevention of this complication].
An investigation performed in 38 surgical and obstetrics-gynecology departments has established that during 20 years foreign bodies were forgotten in the abdominal cavity of 46 patients which makes up 0.03% of all laparotomies. In 30 patients they were forgotten in emergency operations and in 16 patients in elective operations. Among the victims there were 31 women. ⋯ The foreign bodies stayed in the abdominal cavity during the period from 6 hours till 15 years and in 26.1% of the patients they resulted in lethal outcomes. The main causes of accidental leaving the foreign bodies in the abdominal cavity during operative interventions are analyzed in detail. Means of prevention of such neglect of surgeons are proposed.

Case Reports[Aortic valve prosthesis implantation from a mini approach].
The authors share their experiences with performing the first in Russia operation of making the aorta valve prosthetics from a mini-access--transverse sternotomy. It is concluded that operations through such accesses are safe for the patient and relatively easy for the surgeon. Its main advantage consists in quick surgical rehabilitation of the patient and good cosmetic effect.
