[The monitoring of intra-abdominal pressure in critically ill patients].
To monitor intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) in critically ill patients. ⋯ Earlier IAP measurements in critically ill patients are essential for the detection of IAH/ACS and renal injury. With appropriate management of IAH/ACS, significant decrease in morbidity and mortality of patients has been achieved.

[Diagnostic value of a combination of biomarkers in patients with sepsis and severe sepsis in emergency department].
To determine a combination of biomarkers that assure the diagnosis of sepsis and severe sepsis in patients in emergency department (ED). ⋯ The combination of PCT, IL-6 and D-dimer enhances the diagnostic ability for sepsis and severe sepsis.

[The value of combination of the mortality in emergency department sepsis score and blood lactate level in the risk stratification of severe sepsis in the emergency department].
To evaluate the combination of the mortality in emergency department sepsis (MEDS) score with blood lactate level in the risk stratification of patients with severe sepsis in the emergency department (ED). ⋯ MEDS score combined with lactate is a good risk stratification tool for emergency patients with severe sepsis, and its prognostic capability is better than either MEDS score, APACHEII score or blood lactate.

To investigate the change in blood lymphocyte levels and lymphocyte percentage in critical patients, including those with non-infectious systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), sepsis and severe sepsis. ⋯ The serum lymphocyte levels in the critically ill patients are related with the severity of sepsis, and monitoring the change in lymphocyte may be an indicator for evaluating the illness and effect of treatment.

[The clinical analysis of 419 severe sepsis patients in intensive care unit].
To investigate the epidemiological characteristics and mortality risk factors of severe sepsis patients admitted into intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ Severe sepsis is a common cause of ICU admission. Patients with risk factors for high mortality should be carefully monitored, and aggressive treatment should be administered.
