[The relationship between immune imbalance and intestinal barrier dysfunction in patients with severe intra-abdominal infections].
To investigate the relationship between the change in regulatory T lymphocyte (Treg) in the peripheral blood and intestinal barrier dysfunction in the patients who suffered multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) induced by severe intra-abdominal infections. ⋯ An increase in intestinal permeability and a greater degree of immunosuppression are observed during severe intra-abdominal infections. This change becomes more severe coinciding with the degree of seriousness of the patients. This condition is improved in mild and medium grade patients in 7 days, but no improvement is found in severe patients, and it gets worse in the extremely severe patients in 7 days. These data support the concept that severe immunological imbalance occurred in the patients with severe intra-abdominal infections, and it is associated with intestinal barrier dysfunction and endotoxemia.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Effect of continuous high-volume hemofiltration on patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome].
To investigate the effect of continuous high-volume hemofiltration (HVHF) on extravascular lung water and respiratory mechanics in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). ⋯ HVHF shows significant beneficial effects on pulmonary function of patients with ARDS and MODS as a result of removal of cytokines, decrease in EVLWI and amelioration of disturbance in oxygen metabolism.

[A clinical study of rapid-shallow-breathing index in spontaneous breathing trial with pressure support ventilation and T-piece].
To determine the threshold value of rapid-shallow-breathing index (RSBI) and its increased percentage (Delta RSBI) as predictors for successful weaning in spontaneous breathing trial (SBT) with pressure support ventilation (PSV) and T-piece. ⋯ The average values of RSBI (SBT 30 minutes) are significantly different between the two groups. In PSV and T-piece groups, using RSBI = 75 breaths x min(-1) x L(-1) and 100 breaths x min(-1) x L(-1) as the threshold value for predicting successful weaning is more valuable than other values. Sequential observation of Delta RSBI is also valuable in predicting a successful extubation.

Randomized Controlled Trial[A prospective randomized control clinical study of the effect of Xuebijing injection on prognosis of acute respiratory distress syndrome patients].
To study the effect of Xuebijing injection on prognosis, immune function, adrenal function and inflammatory reaction during the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). ⋯ Xuebijing injection improves organ function, decreases MV duration and ICU length of stay in ARDS patients. The underlying mechanism may involve modulation of the immune function, decrease in the degree of adrenal insufficiency, and modulation of regulating inflammatory reaction.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Study the effects of high-volume hemofiltration and fluid resuscitation on removing blood lactic acid and pro-inflammatory cytokines in patients with refractory septic shock].
To evaluate the effects of high-volume hemofiltration (HVHF) and fluid resuscitation on the levels of arterial lactate and inflammatory cytokines, the acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II) score, and sepsis-related organ failure assessment (SOFA) score in patients with refractory septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). ⋯ HVHF and fluid resuscitation could reduce arterial lactate and cytokines contents, at the same time lower the APACHE II score and SOFA score in patients with refractory septic shock and MODS, thus it could improve the survival rate of MODS patients.
