[An evaluation of stroke volume variation as a predictor of fluid responsiveness in mechanically ventilated elderly patients with severe sepsis].
To evaluate stroke volume variation (SVV) as a predictor of fluid responsiveness in mechanically ventilated (MV) elderly patients with severe sepsis. ⋯ Functional hemodynamic parameter SVV can predict fluid responsiveness in elderly MV patients with severe sepsis during fluid resuscitation, it may serve as a useful index for guiding fluid therapy in elderly patients with severe sepsis.

[The effect of blood glucose fluctuations on prognosis of critically ill patients in intensive care unit].
To determine the association between glucose fluctuations and hospital mortality in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. ⋯ The increase in GluSD and GluCV in critically ill patients is significantly correlated with ICU mortality and hospital mortality, and they are more valuable in predicting ICU mortality than GluAdm, GluAve. Diminution in fluctuation of blood glucose might be an important aspect of glucose management.

[The application of disseminated intravascular coagulation score in sepsis].
To study the relationship between the disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) score and assessment of illness and prognosis in sepsis. ⋯ APACHE II score and DIC score can be used as the prognostic factors of sepsis, but the value of DIC score was lower than APACHE II score in diagnosis and prognosis of sepsis.

[A study of urine lactulose/mannitol ratio and intestinal fatty acid binding protein as the indexes of intestinal damage in sepsis].
To assess urine lactulose/mannitol ratio (LMR), and intestinal fatty acid binding protein (IFABP) concentration as the indexes of intestinal damage in septic patients, and to evaluate the clinical severity and mortality of septic patients by use of these indexes. ⋯ This study reveals that patients with sepsis have intestinal mucosal damage and increased intestinal permeability. Increased LMR in urine is associated with clinical severity and prognosis; urine IFABP concentration is not associated with clinical severity and prognosis. Patients with stress ulcer have higher urine IFABP concentration. There is no correlation among IFABP, LMR and gastrointestinal function score.

[The impact of iatrogenic hypernatremia on the prognosis of critical patients].
To explore the effect of iatrogenic hypernatremia on the prognosis of critical patients, and its risk degree. ⋯ Iatrogenic hypernatremia maybe an independent risk factor for mortality of critical patients and should be avoided and taken care of timely.
