Randomized Controlled Trial[Effectiveness of intravenous magnesium on postoperative pain after abdominal surgery versus placebo: double blind randomized controlled trial].
the purpose of our trial is to evaluate the impact of the intravenous perfusion of magnesium on the morphin consumption and on the controle of the stress neuro-endocrin and metabolic reaction in major digestive surgery. ⋯ association of magnesium to morphin PCA does not help to reduce morphin consumption, and does not affect the control of the stress reaction in major digestive surgery.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Local anesthesia in transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy: apical periprostatic nerve block versus endorectal lidocaine gel. A randomized controlled trial of 100 patients].
Intrarectal lidocaine application and apical periprostatic nerve block are a safe technique that significantly reduces pain during transrectal prostate biopsy. ⋯ Compared to intrarectal lidocaine application, apical periprostatic nerve block is a safe technique that significantly reduces pain during transrectal prostate biopsy, with no increase in the complication rate.

Randomized Controlled TrialA randomized, controlled trial of nebulized terbutaline for the first acute bronchiolitis in infants less than 12-months-old.
Despite the common clinical practice, the available evidence on the efficacy of bronchodilators therapy for bronchiolitis is conflicting. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of nebulized terbutaline in bronchiolitis as measured by improvement in clinical score, oxygen saturation or reduction in duration of hospitalization. ⋯ Nebulized terbutaline therapy does not appear effective in treating moderately ill infants with the first acute bronchiolitis.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Postoperative analgesia after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: comparison of the preoperative administration of celecoxib with paracetamol?].
The goal of this study was to evaluate the preventive analgesic effectiveness of paracetamol and celecoxib in laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ The administration of 200 Mg of celecoxib in the preoperative period of a laparoscopic cholecystectomy allows a significant decrease in morphine consumption in the postoperative period and a reduction in the scores of the VAS at rest and at the effort of cough compared to the groups which received only one placebo or paracetamol.

Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy of patient controlled epidural analgesia during labor analgesia--a prospective randomized study using 0.1% bupivacaine with fentanyl 2 mg/ml.
Epidural analgesia is the most effective for the control of pain during labor but irregularity of analgesia, toxicity of local anesthetics (LA) and driving block are the major limits of the modalities of maintenance. ⋯ Besides the perfect analgesia, PCEA offers a psychic independence which explains comfort and maternal satisfaction. Accumulation of LA entails a driving block involved in the change of dynamics of the labor. Incidence of clinical obstetric interventions is the major observation of our study.
