To analyze imaging utilization and emergency radiology process turnaround times in response to the April 15, 2013, Boston Marathon bombing in order to identify opportunities for improvement in the Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) emergency operations plan. ⋯ The surge in imaging utilization after the Boston Marathon bombing stressed emergency radiology operations. Process analysis enabled identification of successes and opportunities for improvement in ongoing emergency operations planning. © RSNA, 2014.

To evaluate the feasibility of use and safety of a targeted radiofrequency ablation (RFA) device for metastatic posterior vertebral body tumors. ⋯ Targeted RFA with a newly developed articulating device is both feasible and safe for the treatment of painful posterior vertebral body metastatic tumors.

Recanalization and clinical outcome of occlusion sites at baseline CT angiography in the Interventional Management of Stroke III trial.
To use baseline computed tomographic (CT) angiography to analyze imaging and clinical end points in an Interventional Management of Stroke III cohort to identify patients who would benefit from endovascular stroke therapy. ⋯ Significant differences were identified between treatment arms for 24-hour recanalization in proximal occlusions; carotid T- or L-type and tandem ICA and M1 occlusions showed greater recanalization and a trend toward better outcome with endovascular treatment. Vascular imaging should be mandated in future endovascular trials to identify such occlusions. Online supplemental material is available for this article.

Metastases in normal-sized pelvic lymph nodes: detection with diffusion-weighted MR imaging.
To prospectively assess the diagnostic performance of diffusion-weighted (DW) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in the detection of pelvic lymph node metastases in patients with prostate and/or bladder cancer staged as N0 with preoperative cross-sectional imaging. ⋯ DW MR imaging enables noninvasive detection of small lymph node metastases in normal-sized nodes in a substantial percentage of patients with prostate and bladder cancer diagnosed as N0 with conventional cross-sectional imaging techniques.

To evaluate characteristics of delayed ischemic stroke after stent-assisted coil placement in cerebral aneurysms and to determine the optimal duration of dual antiplatelet therapy for its prevention. ⋯ Delayed ischemic stroke after stent-assisted coil placement is caused by embolism from or thrombotic occlusion of stent-containing vessels after switching from dual antiplatelet therapy to monotherapy. The stent-containing vessel with incomplete aneurysm occlusion presents as a long-term thromboembolic source. Therefore, dual antiplatelet therapy for more than 9 months and late switch to monotherapy are recommended for its prevention.
