Review[Neurosarcoidosis - diagnosis, clinical picture and therapy].
Sarcoidosis (SA) is a granulomatous, multisystem disease of unknown etiology. Most often the disease affects lungs and mediastinal lymph nodes, but it may occur in other organs. Neurosarcoidosis (NS) more commonly occurs with other sarcoidosis forms, in 1% of cases it involves only nervous system. ⋯ Corticosteroids still are the first line of treatment for NS patients. In cases of steroids resistance, lack of their effectiveness or existence of contraindication to their use, immunosuppressant treatment is recommended. The latest NS algorithm with immunosuppressive treatment is discussed.

Editorial Review[Gastroenterological manifestations of von Hippel-Lindau disease].
Von Hippel-Lindau disease is rare autosomal dominant disorder that results from mutation of VHL gene. Typical manifestations of this syndrome include haemangioblastomas of retina, cerebellum and spinal cord, endolymphatic sac tumors, clear cell cancer and kidney cysts, pheochromocytoma, pancreatic cysts and neuroendocrine tumors. ⋯ The pancreas in VHL disease is not only site of benign lesions (cysts, serous systic adenomas) but also of potentially malignant (neuroendocrine) and malignant tumors(metastases). The gastroenterological manifestations can be the first symptoms of von Hippel-Lindau disease.

The purpose of this article is to introduce the role of turmeric in medicine and summarize the current state of research on its applications. Turmeric (Curcuma longa) has had a wide range of uses in middle eastern and orietnal traditional medicine. Currently, however, its use has been truncated to a common cooking spice, despite numerous studies pointing to its healing properties and possible use in the treatment of many diseases. ⋯ It has been confirmed that its antioxidant effect correlates with a decrease in LDL levels in blood and to a reduced risk of atherosclerosis. Curcumin consumption has also been shown to have a vasodilating effect through its indirect impact on prostacyclins and directly on vascular endothelium. Many of the mention medicinal properties of turmeric are still the subject of research and debate; as such, only some of them have entered the phase of clinical trials.

The abnormality being the result of a certain transposition of the large intestine winding in between diaphragm and the liver, owes it's name to a so called Chilaiditi symptom. This symptom is rarely recognized for at most 0,025-0,28% of the whole population statistics - wise. The Chilaiditi symptom can be examined without any serious (abdominal) pain indication, when conducting the gastrointestinal examination with the implication of the different disorders. ⋯ It may as well minimize the overall diagnostic treatment time lapse - usually concentrated on the pain relief treatment in the aftermath. The patients without examined affliction, (ex.) due to the liver disorders and the awareness of the existence of this syndrome in general, can be an indicator for taking up a decision for when it comes to the liver biopsy. This due to the risk of any perforation of the digestive tract.
