The platypnea orthodeoxia syndrome (POS) is a rare condition characterized by dyspnea and hypoxia in upright position. Pathopysiologic underlying mechanisms are determined by an atrial right-to-left shunt. ⋯ Classically, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography in supine and upright position with use of contrast medium and/or Doppler will point the diagnosis. Treatment is predominantly carried out by interventional closure of atrial septal defect that promptly resolves clinical symptoms.

The effects of mobile phones on apoptosis in cerebral tissue: an experimental study on rats.
The concern about mobile phone effects is increasing as the number of users increasing too. Different studies have different results, so this topic is still open to discussion. Aim of this report was to investigate the effects of the mobile phones on the Bcl-2 gene and p53 proteins in rat brains. ⋯ Our results showed that the electro-magnetic waves emitted by the mobile phones may have effect on apoptosis. Besides, obtained data revealed that more realistic application of mobile phones during experiments is more important as expected.

Anti-CD11c antibody, Efalizumab attenuate ventilator-induced lung injury.
The pathophysiology of ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) involves multiple mechanisms including inflammation and inflammatory cells infiltration. The anti-CD11c monoclonal antibody, Efalizumab has been demonstrated to inhibit the T cell activation, migration and adhesion to keratinocytes. ⋯ Our data suggested that Efalizumab could protect rat from ventilator-induced lung injury and improve the survival time through the inhibition of intrapulmonary inflammatory response.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyClinical comparative analysis on unstable pelvic fractures in the treatment with percutaneous sacroiliac screws and sacroiliac joint anterior plate fixation.
To investigate clinical efficacy of unstable pelvic fractures in the treatment with percutaneous sacroiliac screws and sacroiliac joint anterior plate fixation. ⋯ Percutaneous sacroiliac screw internal fixation in the treatment of unstable pelvic fractures has less injury, less bleeding, less pain and rapid recovery which is a safe and effective minimally invasive operation method. The clinical curative effect of percutaneous sacroiliac screw internal fixation is better than anterior plate fixation for the treatment of sacroiliac joint. The full preparation before the surgery and patients with positive can substantially reduce the occurrence of complications rate.
