Meta AnalysisEffects of vitamin D supplementation on musculoskeletal health: a systematic review, meta-analysis, and trial sequential analysis.
The effects of vitamin D on fractures, falls, and bone mineral density are uncertain, particularly for high vitamin D doses. We aimed to determine the effect of vitamin D supplementation on fractures, falls, and bone density. ⋯ Health Research Council of New Zealand.

Lixisenatide and renal outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes and acute coronary syndrome: an exploratory analysis of the ELIXA randomised, placebo-controlled trial.
The results of the ELIXA trial demonstrated the cardiovascular safety of lixisenatide, a short-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, in patients with type 2 diabetes and acute coronary syndrome. In this exploratory analysis of ELIXA, we investigate the effect of lixisenatide on renal outcomes. ⋯ Sanofi.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyOestrogen versus androgen in hormone-replacement therapy for complete androgen insensitivity syndrome: a multicentre, randomised, double-dummy, double-blind crossover trial.
Women with complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS) after gonadectomy have complained about reduced psychological wellbeing and sexual satisfaction. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of hormone-replacement therapy with either androgen or oestrogen in women with 46,XY karyotype and CAIS after gonadectomy. ⋯ German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Association of preoperative glucose concentration with myocardial injury and death after non-cardiac surgery (GlucoVISION): a prospective cohort study.
Myocardial injury after non-cardiac surgery (MINS) is the most common perioperative cardiovascular complication and is independently associated with 30-day mortality. We aimed to assess the association between preoperative glucose concentration and postoperative MINS and mortality. ⋯ Full funding sources listed at the end of the paper (see Acknowledgments).

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyCanagliflozin and renal outcomes in type 2 diabetes: results from the CANVAS Program randomised clinical trials.
In the Canagliflozin Cardiovascular Assessment Study (CANVAS) Program, canagliflozin reduced the rates of major adverse cardiovascular events and the results suggested a renal benefit in patients with type 2 diabetes who were at high risk for cardiovascular events, compared with those treated with placebo. Here we report the results of a prespecified exploratory analysis of the long-term effects of canagliflozin on a range of sustained and adjudicated renal outcomes. ⋯ Janssen Research & Development.
