The aim of the study was evaluation of the use of tracheostomy T-tube in patients with tracheal stenosis. The advantages of closed T-tube over open tracheotomy are: 1/ normal breathing through the nose, 2/ normal speech without necessity to close the tube with a finger, 3/ no spitting during cough. Silicone tracheostomy T-tube was used in 12 patients with tracheal stenosis. ⋯ Three patients were not decannulated. Tracheostomy T-tube can be used temporary in patients with tracheal stenosis before planned stenosis resection or as a sole treatment with good chances for successful decannulation. When stenosis resection is not possible, T-tube can be placed for long time.

[Use of isotonic NaCl solution in patients with acute rhinosinusitis].
The mucous membrane of the nose and paranasal sinuses has several important physiological functions. Inflammation of the nose and paranasal sinuses impairs filtration, humidification and warming of the inhaled air. It also affects the beating of cilia and the mucociliary clearance within the nose and lumen of the sinuses. The result is impairment of the mechanism by which the removal of the stagnant pathological discharge from the paranasal sinuses and of foreign matter (environmental pollutants) from the nasal mucosa would be otherwise effected. The use of special products to cleanse the nasal mucosa may considerably improve its function. Day-to-day ENT practice offers evidence of beneficial effects of nasal douching with isotonic sea water solutions. Products which cleanse nasal mucosa are now used as an adjunct to treatment of rhinosinusitis and rhinitis co-existing with nasal polyps. ⋯ The findings of the present study support the investigators' opinion that the isotonic solution (0.9% NaCl) should be recommended for nasal douching may be a valuable adjunct to the standard medical treatment of acute rhinosinusitis.

The aim of the study was evaluation of early results of tracheal resection with end to end anastomosis. Tracheal resection was performed in 5 patients with tracheal stenosis resulting from prolonged intubation. Three patients were admitted without tracheostomy, in two patients tracheostomy was performed in another hospital. ⋯ Four patients had no complication after the operation and one patient had temporary subcutaneous emphysema in the neck. For 4-11 months follow up after operation all the patients have had good breathing. Tracheal resection with end to end anastomosis is effective method of treatment of tracheal stenosis.

[The development of concept of partial surgery of the larynx due to supraglottic cancer].
It has been shown the conception of partial surgery of the larynx due to cancer primary develops in the supraglottic. The evolution of this method which is a consequence of progress in anatomical and embryological knowledge as well as technical possibilities of surgeons has been introduced. The modern methods of partial removal of larynx let resume physiological function of larynx with oncological security.
