Review Case Reports[Two cases of tracheal injuries secondary to blunt trauma].
We present two cases of injury to the cervical trachea and the tracheal bifurcation due to blunt trauma. A 20-year-old man sustained complete disruption of the cervical trachea during a traffic accident. He underwent end-to-end anastomosis of the disrupted trachea. ⋯ He sustained a longitudinal laceration about 3 cm from the tracheal over the membranous portion during a traffic accident. The laceration was successfully repaired by interrupted sutures with absorbable materials. Our experiences emphasize the importance of debridement of the injured cartilageous portion during treatment of tracheal injury due to blunt trauma and the difficulty in managing complete disruption of the cervical trachea with bilateral paralysis of the recurrent nerve.

Review Case Reports[A successful management of acute ruptures of the right atrium and left ventricle due to blunt trauma].
It is difficult to save a patient with acute cardiac free wall rupture due to blunt trauma; only 9 patients abroad and 2 patients in Japan are reported to have survived rupture of the left ventricle. A 30-year-old female was injured in a motor-vehicle accident. Distension of the neck vein, chest X-P and echocardiograms suggested cardiac tamponade due to cardiac rupture. ⋯ Cardiac rupture should be suspected in all cases of blunt trauma, and the early diagnosis of cardiac tamponade is a key to patient survival. Echocardiography is especially convenient and useful for the diagnosis of this condition. Repair should be performed by median sternotomy and the potential necessity for cardiopulmonary bypass should not be ignored.

Review Case Reports[Solitary plasmacytoma of the rib--a case report and review of Japanese literatures].
A 72-year-old woman with solitary plasmacytoma of the right fifth rib was surgically treated. She underwent radical resection of the bony chest wall including the right fifth rib, the ribs above and below the involved rib, the intercostal muscle, and the parietal pleura. Histological finding of the tumor was plasmacytoma of the rib. ⋯ Solitary plasmacytoma is rare as compared with multiple myeloma. Patients with solitary plasmacytoma originating in the rib have a feasibility of operative indication, and radical treatment is expected to be by adequate surgical resection. Seventeen cases of solitary chest wall plasmacytoma described in the Japanese literature are reviewed.

Review Case Reports[A case of successful surgical treatment for coarctation of the aorta associated with ruptured cerebral aneurysm].
We present a case of a sixteen year old boy with coarctation of the aorta who suffered ruptured cerebral aneurysm. Both cerebral and aortic lesions were successfully corrected. ⋯ Cerebroangiography demonstrated coarctation of the aorta. Clipping of cerebral aneurysm was done at first, then three months later, complete resection of the aortic coarctation and artificial graft replacement was done by using femoral veno-arterial cardiopulmonary bypass.

Review Case Reports[2 cases of the tension pneumopericardium following blunt chest trauma resulting in the cardiac tamponade].
A 63-year-old man (case 1) was brought to our emergency unit following a high speed collision. He developed fatal cardiopulmonary arrest shortly after arrival despite resuscitation efforts. Tension pneumopericardium was revealed by chest X-ray and CT examination. ⋯ In a patient with traumatic pneumopericardium who requires mechanical ventilatory support, continuous pericardial drainage should be considered. In addition, tension pneumopericardium may occur in patients with breathing spontaneously as in our cases. In these cases, careful observation and immediate subxiphoid pericardial drainage are required.
