Is minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis superior to open plating for fixation of two-part fracture of the proximal humerus?
Displaced two-part fractures of the proximal humerus are generally treated with open plate (OP) fixation. Recently, minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) has been increasingly favored for fracture healing and functional recovery. We aimed to compare OP and MIPO for two-part fractures of the proximal humerus to identify outcome differences. ⋯ Both techniques showed satisfactory radiographic and functional outcomes in two-part fractures of the proximal humerus. Although MIPO technique offers advantages, including minimal soft tissue damage and short operation time, surgeons and patients should be warned of the invisible risk from the radiation hazard.

Uncemented extensive porous titanium-coated long femoral stem prostheses are effective in treatment of Vancouver type B2 periprosthetic femoral fractures: A retrospective mid- to long-term follow-up study.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the mid- to long-term outcomes of revision surgery for Vancouver type B2 periprosthetic femoral fractures (PFFs) after total hip arthroplasty using an uncemented extensive porous titanium-coated long femoral stem prosthesis (solution prosthesis) with or without cortical strut allograft. ⋯ Revision surgery using the solution prosthesis with or without cortical strut allograft is effective in treating Vancouver type B2 PFFs, with satisfactory mid- and long-term clinical and radiological outcomes.

Multicenter StudyConservative treatment of main thoracic adolescent idiopathic scoliosis: Full-time or nighttime bracing?
To compare treatment efficacy between the Boston full-time brace and the Providence part-time brace in main thoracic adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). ⋯ Despite a larger initial curve size in the Providence group, progression of more than 5° or to surgical indication area was similar in the Boston group. Our results indicate that nighttime bracing is a viable alternative to full-time bracing also in main thoracic AIS.

Comparative StudySurgical outcomes of cervical myelopathy due to ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament: Anterior decompression and fusion versus posterior laminoplasty.
The purpose of this study was to compare the surgical outcomes of anterior decompression and fusion (ADF) with that of posterior laminoplasty (LAMP) for cervical myelopathy caused by ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL). ⋯ Compared with LAMP, ADF shows better improvement of neurological function in patients with cervical myelopathy due to OPLL, especially in patients with segmental-type cervical OPLL.

After-hours elective spine deformity corrective surgery for patients with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis: Is it safe?
The aim of this study was to compare the outcome of after-hours electively planned Posterior Spinal Fusion surgeries for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) patients with daytime surgeries. ⋯ After-hours elective spine deformity corrective surgeries for healthy ambulatory patients with AIS were as safe as when they were done during daytime.
