Meta AnalysisPrevalence of Comorbid Asthma and Related Outcomes in COVID-19: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
The impact of asthma on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) remains largely unknown. ⋯ There is great variability in asthma prevalence among patients with COVID-19 in different countries or regions. Asthma is not associated with higher COVID-19 severity or worse prognosis, and patients with asthma are found to have a lower risk of death compared with patients without asthma.

Meta AnalysisAntineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies and Organ-Specific Manifestations in Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), also known as Churg-Strauss syndrome, is a rare and often severe systemic vasculitis associated with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCAs). EGPA can affect multiple organ systems, but the relationships between ANCA status and the organ-specific manifestations of EGPA in previous reports were inconsistent. ⋯ This study provides more evidence that patients with EGPA may exhibit different features of disease based on their ANCA status.

Meta AnalysisCross-Reactivity to Cephalosporins and Carbapenems in Penicillin-Allergic Patients: Two Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses.
There is no recent systematic review on the risk of cross-reactivity to cephalosporins and carbapenems in penicillin-allergic patients despite many new studies on the subject. All past reviews have several limitations such as not including any patient with a T-cell-mediated penicillin allergy. ⋯ Although it remains possible that these meta-analyses overestimated the risk of cross-reactivity, clinicians should consider the increased risk of cross-reactivity associated with aminocephalosporins, and to a lesser extent with intermediate-similarity-score cephalosporins, compared with the very low risk associated with low-similarity-score cephalosporins and all carbapenems when using beta-lactams in patients with a suspected or proven penicillin allergy.

Meta Analysis Comparative StudyReslizumab Compared with Benralizumab in Patients with Eosinophilic Asthma: A Systematic Literature Review and Network Meta-Analysis.
The interaction of IL-5 with its receptor on eosinophils increases the activation and maintenance of eosinophils; blocking this interaction reduces asthma symptoms in patients with the eosinophilic phenotype. Reslizumab, which binds to IL-5, and benralizumab, which targets the IL-5 receptor α subunit, have not been compared in head-to-head trials. ⋯ This indirect comparison suggests that reslizumab may be more efficacious than benralizumab in patients with eosinophilic asthma in Global Initiative for Asthma step 4/5 with elevated blood eosinophil levels (benralizumab, ≥300/μL; reslizumab, ≥400/μL) and 2 or more exacerbations in the previous year.

Review Meta AnalysisNetwork meta-analysis shows commercialized subcutaneous and sublingual grass products have comparable efficacy.
Subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) and sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) have been shown to effectively treat grass pollen allergies, although direct comparisons are sparse. ⋯ The comparisons for grass pollen immunotherapy products commercialized in at least 1 country indicate comparable reductions in allergic rhinoconjunctivitis symptoms and supplemental medication use for SLIT tablets and SCIT in the first pollen season.
