ReviewMicroneedle Transdermal Drug Delivery Systems for Allergen-Specific Immunotherapy, Skin Disease Treatment, and Vaccine Development.
Transdermal drug delivery systems (TDDSs) overcome the hurdle of an intact skin barrier by penetrating the skin to allow molecules through. These systems reduce side effects associated with conventional hypodermic needles. Here, we introduce novel microneedle (MN) TDDSs that enhance drug delivery by creating micron-sized pores across the skin. ⋯ Although epicutaneous approaches are emerging as new options for treating food allergy in many clinical trials, MN TDDSs could provide a more efficient and convenient route to deliver macromolecules. Furthermore, MN TDDSs may allow for safe vaccine delivery without permanent scars. MN TDDSs are a major emerging strategy for delivering novel vaccines and treatments for diseases, including skin diseases, allergic diseases, and so on.

Tranexamic Acid and Intraoperative and Postoperative Accumulative Bleeding in Elective Degenerative Spine Surgery.
Spinal surgeries are often associated with a high incidence of perioperative blood loss, which poses several complications. Much current research focuses on the importance of antifibrinolytic drugs during spinal surgeries to reduce blood loss, which can also reduce the risk of the need for blood transfusions. We evaluated the effects of prophylactic, low-dose tranexamic acid (TXA) in spinal fusion surgeries on blood loss, blood transfusions, and associated complications. ⋯ We confirmed that low dose TXA has no effect on intraoperative blood loss volume or blood transfusion requirements and that it can significantly reduce the need for postoperative blood transfusions.

Relationship between Androgen Deprivation Therapy and Normal-Tension Glaucoma in Patients with Prostate Cancer: A Nationwide Cohort Study.
This study assessed the relationship between newly developed normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) and androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in patients with prostate cancer. ⋯ Medical castrations for patients with prostate cancer results in a lower incidence of newly diagnosed NTG compared to no ADT. These findings suggest that testosterone may be involved in the pathogenesis of NTG.

ReviewKnee Extension Is Related to the Posteriorly Deviated Gravity Line to the Pelvis in Young Adults: Radiographic Analysis Using Low-Dose Biplanar X-ray.
We sought to compare the radiographic parameters concerning the sagittal alignment of the standing whole-body skeletons between the knee extension group and control group using the low-dose biplanar X-ray system in a young adult population without knee pain, and to investigate the associated variables for the sagittal knee angle (sagKA) among the radiographic parameters of global sagittal alignment. ⋯ The GL-H using GL, not the SVA using C7PL, was a significant radiographic factor associated with the sagKA.
