Meta AnalysisCephalomedullary Nailing versus Dynamic Hip Screw Fixation in Basicervical Femoral Neck Fracture: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Although many studies have reported the use of dynamic hip screws (DHS) and cephalomedullary nailing (CMN) for basicervical femoral neck fracture (BFNF), no clear treatment protocols have been recommended. The present study aimed to compare the surgical outcomes associated with DHS and CMN to determine the appropriate fixation method for BFNF. ⋯ Stable fixation using DHS and CMN does not show a significant clinical or radiographical difference in BFNF, and the implant can be selected based on the surgeon's preference.

Meta AnalysisThe Clinical Efficacy of Type 2 Inflammation-Specific Agents Targeting Interleukins in Reducing Exacerbations in Severe Asthma: A Meta-Analysis.
Monoclonal antibodies against type 2 inflammatory pathways are currently promising therapeutics for severe asthma. The aim of this study was to determine how well type 2 (T2) inflammation-specific agents targeting interleukins reduce the rate of asthma exacerbations (AE) in patients with severe asthma. ⋯ Our findings suggest that T2-specific agents are significantly associated with a reduced rate of AE, compared with placebo. Their efficacy appears to be enhanced in patients with eosinophil counts of ≥300 cells/µL.

Meta AnalysisEvaluation of CRISPR-Based Assays for Rapid Detection of SARS-CoV-2: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the pathogen of coronavirus disease 2019. Diagnostic methods based on the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) have been developed to detect SARS-CoV-2 rapidly. Therefore, a systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of CRISPR for detecting SARS-CoV-2 infection. ⋯ Studies indicate that a diagnostic method based on CRISPR has high sensitivity and specificity. Therefore, this would be a potential diagnostic tool to improve the accuracy of SARS-CoV-2 detection.

ReviewPlatelet Function and Genotype after DES Implantation in East Asian Patients: Rationale and Characteristics of the PTRG-DES Consortium.
Platelet function test (PFT) results and genotype hold unique prognostic implications in East Asian patients. The aim of the PTRG-DES (Platelet function and genoType-Related long-term proGnosis in Drug-Eluting Stent-treated Patients with coronary artery disease) consortium is to assess the clinical impact thereof on long-term clinical outcomes in Korean patients with coronary artery disease during dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) including clopidogrel. ⋯ The PTRG-DES consortium highlights unique values for on-clopidogrel platelet reactivity and CYP2C19 phenotype that may be important to developing optimal antiplatelet regimens in East Asian patients.

ReviewSpine Surgery Assisted by Augmented Reality: Where Have We Been?
This present systematic review examines spine surgery literature supporting augmented reality (AR) technology and summarizes its current status in spinal surgery technology. Database search strategies were retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, from the earliest records to April 1, 2021. Our review briefly examines the history of AR, and enumerates different device application workflows in a variety of spinal surgeries. ⋯ The overall number of cases in AR-related studies is still rare compared to traditional surgical-assisted techniques. These lack long-term clinical efficacy and robust surgical-related statistical data. Changing healthcare laws as well as the increasing prevalence of spinal surgery are generating critical data that determines the value of AR technology.
