Case ReportsRupture of a small fusiform thoracic aortic aneurysm.
We report a case of ruptured aortic aneurysm of the distal aortic arch. This aneurysm was fusiform and only 4.0 cm in maximum diameter. Emergency total aortic arch replacement was successful. Rupture of a thoracic aortic aneurysm of this shape and size is possible but extremely rare.

Case ReportsVideo-assisted thoracoscopic bullectomy for spontaneous pneumothorax in a Swyer-James syndrome patient.
We treated a 15-year-old patient with spontaneous pneumothorax associated with Swyer-James syndrome using video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). Thoracic computed tomography showed hyperlucent areas in the bilateral lungs. ⋯ Because of recurrent pneumothorax, we performed reoperation 10 months later, finding a few newly generated bullae. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of VATS used to treat a Swyer-James syndrome patient with pneumothorax.

Case ReportsSuccessful surgical treatment of chronic traumatic thoracic aneurysm in two patients.
We successfully treated two patients with chronic traumatic aneurysm of the thoracic aorta. The first, a 40-year-old man involved in an automobile accident 24 years earlier, was treated by thoracic aorta graft replacement via left thoracotomy under femoro-femoral partial bypass. ⋯ They have done well after surgery. We believe chronic traumatic thoracic aneurysm at the aortic isthmus should be treated surgically soon after diagnosis because elective surgery presents low risk of morbidity and mortality.

Case ReportsSwan-Ganz catheter-induced pseudoaneurysm of the pulmonary artery.
Pseudoaneurysm of the pulmonary artery (PA) induced by Swan-Ganz catheter injury is an important complication with high mortality. We report a case of PA pseudoaneurysm treated by PA repair. ⋯ The patient was carefully observed because there was no evidence of bronchial hemorrhage. The perforation was closed and the cavity plicated under extracorporeal circulation to avoid delayed rupture of the pseudoaneurysm when she underwent a third mitral valve replacement.

Case ReportsPartial left ventriculectomy in pediatric end-stage dilated cardiomyopathy.
Although a recent survey on pediatric cardiomyopathy in Japan showed that 48% of patients died despite the medical treatment, pediatric cardiac transplantation is not legal in Japan. We determined the feasibility of partial left ventriculectomy as an alternative to end-stage dilated cardiomyopathy. ⋯ Partial left ventriculectomy is appropriate for selected patients with end-stage dilated cardiomyopathy if medical therapy is not effective and heart transplantation is not possible.
