Comparative StudyComparison of percutaneous nephrolithotomy, shock wave lithotripsy, and retrograde intrarenal surgery for lower pole renal calculi 10-20 mm.
To compare the results of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), shock wave lithotripsy (SWL), and retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) for 1- to 2-cm lower pole kidney stones. ⋯ PCNL seems to be the most successful but most invasive method. However, with relatively low complication rates, SWL and RIRS are other techniques to keep in mind. To determine the first-line treatment, prospective randomized studies with larger series are needed.

Review Case ReportsRetroperitoneal laparoscopic radical nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma during pregnancy.
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) during pregnancy is rare. We present a case of retroperitoneal laparoscopic radical nephrectomy for RCC in a 32-year-old pregnant female. The tumor was excised en bloc. Retroperitoneal laparoscopic radical nephrectomy appears to be a feasible and safe treatment option for RCC in pregnancy.

Inherent grading characteristics of individual pathologists contribute to clinically and prognostically relevant interobserver discordance concerning Broders' grading of penile squamous cell carcinomas.
We assessed the reproducibility and prognostic impact of the Broders' grading system (BGS) in a cohort of 147 patients with surgically treated penile squamous cell carcinomas. ⋯ Clinically and prognostically relevant interobserver discordance concerning the BGS seems, at least in part, to be attributable to inherent 'aggressive' versus 'reserved' grading characteristics of individual pathologists.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudySupplementary X-ray for ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrolithotomy in supine position versus standard technique: a randomized controlled trial.
To compare the success and complication rates of sonography-guided supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) versus prone standard technique (fluoroscopic guidance) in a randomized controlled trial. ⋯ In this study, sonography-guided supine PCNL was presented as a safe and effective technique, similar to standard PCNL, with comparable success and complication rates. In addition, using this technique eliminates the possible harmful impacts of radiation on the surgical team and decreases postoperative fever.

Multicenter StudyExternal validation of the updated nomogram predicting lymph node invasion in patients with prostate cancer undergoing extended pelvic lymph node dissection.
The aim of our study was to determine the validity of the updated nomogram [Briganti et al.: Eur Urol 2012;61:480-487] as a prediction tool for pelvic lymph node invasion (LNI) in the current era by using a large multicentric population of men who underwent extended pelvic lymph node dissection (ePLND) at the time of radical prostatectomy (RP) at tertiary referral centers. ⋯ The updated nomogram predicting LNI in patients with PCa undergoing ePLND has been externally validated, demonstrating excellent accuracy and calibration characteristics and a general applicability for predicting the presence of LNI.
