Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Indirect standard cardiotocography plus fetal blood sampling versus indirect quantitative cardiotocography--a randomized comparative study in intrapartum monitoring].
In previous papers we proposed ways to improve the diagnostic potential of the "quantitative cardiotocography" computer method, which allowed us to introduce clinical practice guidelines. Using these guidelines we aim to evaluate the effectiveness of quantitative cardiotocography (qCTG) as compared to standard cardiotocography (CTG) and, if necessary fetal blood sampling (FBS). ⋯ The incidence of metabolic acidosis was comparable in both groups. Indirect quantitative cardiotocography shows much better specificity for fetal hypoxia which results in significantly lower rates of operative deliveries compared to standard indirect cardiotocography combined with fetal blood sampling.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Diprivan versus midazolam in combined anaesthesia with ketamin for minor gynecological surgery].
We tested the hypothesis that diprivan/ketamine (D/K) anesthesia would offer advantages compared to midazolam/ketamine (M/K) in patients undergoing minor gynecological surgery. After patient written consent, 60 healthy women, which were scheduled for elective termination of pregnancy were randomly allocated into two groups. Operating conditions, recovery, pain, postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and patient's satisfaction to anesthesia were assessed. ⋯ Immediate recovery was faster with patients given diprivan than midazolam. Patients receiving M/K experienced more PONV in recovery room. D/K is preferable method of anesthesia for ultra-short gynecological procedure compared to M/K because of faster recovery and decreased incidence of PONV.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial[Postoperative nausea and vomiting--possibility to prevent after long-lasting gynecological operations].
The aim of this study is to establish the possibilities for effective influence upon the postoperative nausea and vomiting and to summarize the existing literature data. The observation is carried out upon 361 patients with performed hysterectomy, who were hospitalised at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University Hospital "Saint George" Plovdiv for the period January-December 2003 year. We performed randomized study about the effect of the application of dexamethasone used in the introduction of anaesthesia and its effect upon the postoperative nausea and vomiting. Our observation confirms the literature data about the safe and effective application of dexamethasone as a method of choice for minimizing the frequency of the postoperative nausea and vomiting
