Randomized Controlled Trial
Intravenous diazepam, midazolam and lorazepam in acute seizure control.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of three benzodiazepine drugs: Lorazepam, Midazolam and Diazepam, when given parenterally in the control of acute seizure. ⋯ All the three groups were comparable in terms of time to clinical seizure cessation, seizure recurrence and uncontrolled seizures after drug administration. However, number of patients requiring second dose to control seizures were significantly higher in diazepam group when compared to lorazepam group. Excessive somnolence and sedation occurred more frequently with diazepam.

Hypertonic versus normal saline as initial fluid bolus in pediatric septic shock.
To compare the efficacy of 3% saline and 0.9% saline infusion as initial resuscitative fluid therapy in children with septic shock. ⋯ Both normal saline and hypertonic saline were equally effective as resuscitation fluid with respect to restoration of hemodynamic stability, average duration of ICU stay and mortality. Hypertonic saline appears to be a promising fluid for resuscitation of septic shock.

Can Indian classical instrumental music reduce pain felt during venepuncture?
Local anesthetic agent is not usually used to reduce pain experienced by children undergoing venepuncture. This study was undertaken to determine comparative efficacy of local anesthetic cream, Indian classical instrumental music and placebo, in reducing pain due to venepuncture in children. ⋯ Pain experienced during venepuncture can be significantly reduced by using EMLA or Indian classical instrumental music. The difference between VAS scores with LA and music is not always significant. Hence, the choice between EMLA and music could be dictated by logistical factors.

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and side effect profile of ketoprofen as well as compliance with respect to the taste of the drug and compare these parameters with those of acetaminophen and ibuprofen. ⋯ All three drugs were similar in terms of efficacy, adverse effects, and compliance within 48 hours of therapy. These results suggest that ketoprofen may be used for antipyresis as an alternative to acetaminophen and ibuprofen.

Comparative study of intranasal midazolam and intravenous diazepam sedation for procedures and seizures.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of intranasal midazolam for seizures and various procedures. ⋯ Midazolam by the intranasal route provides safe and equally effective non-invasive method of sedation for procedures and seizures.
