Flavored Anesthetic Masks for Inhalational Induction in Children.
To evaluate the clinical efficacy of masking the odor of inhalational agents using fruit flavors on the anxiety behavior and compliance of children for inhalational induction. ⋯ The authors observed a placebo effect that reduced the pre-op anxiety in the control group which probably made the quality of induction equivalent with flavored and non-flavored masks. Therefore, using a flavored anesthetic mask is cost-effective than using a commercially available pre-scented mask.

To investigate the efficacy of distraction by flippits/distraction cards in relieving pain associated with pediatric venipuncture process in young children. ⋯ The use of simple distraction technique using flippits can significantly relieve the pain associated with blood sampling in children.

Heated Humidified High-Flow Nasal Cannula for Prevention of Extubation Failure in Preterm Infants.
To compare extubation failure rate between the heated humidified high-flow nasal cannula (HHHFNC) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) groups. ⋯ In the index study, the extubation failure rate was not statistically different between infants who were on HHHFNC or CPAP support.

Comparison of Intranasal Dexmedetomidine with Intranasal Clonidine as a Premedication in Surgery.
To compare effectiveness of intranasal dexmedetomidine and clonidine as anxiolytics and sedatives in pediatric patients undergoing various surgeries. ⋯ Intranasal dexmedetomidine is a better anxiolytic and sedative as compared to clonidine. Postoperative analgesic requirement was also significantly decreased after intranasal dexmedetomidine. Thus, it can be preferred as compared to clonidine for premedication in pediatric surgical patients.

MRI Customized Play Therapy in Children Reduces the Need for Sedation--A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To evaluate the effectiveness of an MRI-specific play therapy intervention on the need for sedation in young children. ⋯ The use of an MRI customized play therapy with pediatric patients undergoing diagnostic MRI resulted in significant reduction of the use of sedation.
