To assess the efficacy of the topical 5% lidocaine medicated plaster (Versatis®, Grünenthal GmbH, Aachen, Germany) in patients with post-thoracotomy neuropathic pain. ⋯ The study included neurophysiological findings and confirmed the efficacy of the topical 5% lidocaine medicated plaster in patients with chronic post-thoracotomy neuropathic pain.

Flurbiprofen 8.75 mg lozenges for treating sore throat symptoms: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.
This study assessed multiple doses of flurbiprofen 8.75 mg lozenges for the relief of three prominent symptoms of acute pharyngitis: pain intensity (primary end point), difficulty swallowing and swollen throat. ⋯ Multiple doses of flurbiprofen lozenges provide effective relief of sore throat pain intensity as well as difficulty swallowing and swollen throat.

To determine the impact of 5% lidocaine-medicated plasters on sleep, quality of life and pain in 265 patients with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). ⋯ 5% lidocaine-medicated plasters provide benefits beyond pain relief for patients with postherpetic neuralgia.

Modulation of serum BDNF levels in postherpetic neuralgia following pulsed radiofrequency of intercostal nerve and pregabalin.
To study the modulation of serum BDNF levels following integrated multimodal intervention in postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). ⋯ Integrated multimodal therapy using minimally invasive pulsed radiofrequency and pregabalin in PHN was effective in early pain reduction with elevated serum BDNF levels.

Fentanyl iontophoretic transdermal system versus morphine intravenous patient-controlled analgesia for pain management following gynecological surgery: a meta-analysis of randomized, controlled trials.
To compare the efficacy and safety of patient-controlled fentanyl iontophoretic transdermal system (ITS) with morphine intravenous (i.v.) patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) for pain management following gynecological surgery. ⋯ Following gynecological surgery, patients and investigators were more satisfied (had a higher percent of an 'excellent' rating on the PGA and IGA, respectively) with fentanyl ITS than morphine iv. PCA as a method of pain control.
